That's definitely a flaw of Kieran's. It and a few others - up to and including the above mentioned - are what's holding back his writing from being "great."

I'll concede that Kieran has all the technical skill to be "great", but there's still room, a lot of room to improve, and he needs to let go of character bias. I know a lot of fanfic authors who hates particular characters but never, never lets it color the way they write them, not unless the character was already that way.

There's a difference between a negative portrayal of a character and bashing. In the case of Trinity, it lies within enough of a grey zone for people to go both ways on it.

Although there are those people who like​ bashing, but I prefer not to think about them.

Damn, I thought Somnium Summer already had a summary. Okay.

Umm ...

A Sixth Holy Grail War (or so it seems), set in Fuyuki with a mix of old and new characters. Much of the detail is obscured by a first-person view, and the author keeps even more from you. Finding out what on Earth's going on is part of the attraction, but it makes for a powerful 'fic alongside strong personalities, good action, and a style best described as 'visual novel without the visuals': not just choices in the manner of a CYOA, but sentence structure, vocabulary and scene construction are all part of the pastiche. Readership has a tendency to vote for any immediately obvious Dead Ends to collect the Tiger Stamps.

That's what I was hoping. It's fine to have a problem with it. Not so much when it totally kills your enjoyment of a fic. :V

My enjoyment of that fic was killed by a mess other things.
