I just caught up with the scans and I must say that this scene kinda made me sad.

I must say, I do like the extra touches the manga has, really helps flesh out the novella a little more.

It's still the same story and all, it's just...hmm, how to put it?
The original novella was just a book with sparse illustrations. The manga on the other hand is a much more visual medium, and as such we get to see things that were only talked about through simple narration in the original. For example, we don't get to see what "Man of the Earth" looks like in the novella's illustrations but the manga shows us that he looks like an older more haggard version of Shiki to fit in with the whole Star Crossed Lovers theme with Girl of the Moon who looks like Arcueid.

so i guess Sasaki Shounen just went full-on on that

True dat. Though it does amuse me that we got Satsuki in an adaptation of Tsuki no Sango before a Tsukihime remake. The wait for RE:Tsuki is a long one...
But seriously, I really like Sasaki's work with this adaptation and may pick it up to read myself one day.
