Outside of Apocrypha, do we know of other timelines mentioning Subcategory Grail Wars?

Are they only a thing in Apocrypha or did we hear about them before that?

Apocrypha invented them. It's specifically connected to the F/A universe because of the whole Darnic thing with him spreading information about how it worked so people tried to imitate it

I don't know if the concept has any off-hand mentions in other works, but iirc none of the spinoffs take place in the same type of universe. Strange Fake is post-Stay Night, Case Files is post-Zero (though different than SF I assume), and Grand Order is its own thing with the origins of the Grail War being a bit different. F/A is the only work that involved Darnic stealing the Greater Grail and spreading information to cause other people to try and imitate it.

I also know literally nothing about Labyrinth so yeah

IIRC Case Files is the one that takes place in the main Fate timeline(s) right?

As for Strange Fake, are there indications it couldn't take place in the main Fate timelines? Other than the powerful Dead Apostle Ancestor stuff in it I mean. Like what are some other differences that show the timeline diverged?

And of course, that red-haired boy is living there with his original surname unchanged, but still having a honest and upright personality (as shown in his appearance in “Capsule Servant”), and likely going through days with a love comedy-like tone, along with a twin-tail magic-fist user and her cheerful little sister who laughs like a high-class young lady.

I know I'm overthinking this but looking at this and Prisma Illya, I've come to wonder how exactly would mages tell a normal person they're interested in about the whole magic thing.

Yes by title, the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors. They were mentioned in Jester and Hanza's fight. Nasu did clarifie on some mechanics detailing the reasons why DAAs and Servant can't exist together in the same world but also clarified that SF world is a little special that its like GO world where such things are possible.

I thought the relevant Nasu diary said that Strange Fake was a "FGO like world" in that it's not really either Tsuki or Fate, but kind of a mix of both or whatever?
