Fanfic idea thread two days ago PotK was discussed....We were beating a dead horse.

First scene with Illya was disappointingly generic, though amusing.

Yeah..... the Ilya factor is getting significantly more..... pronounced.

Also, the story really has slowed to a crawl.

It's not enough to make me go to a neutral or negative rec just yet, but it is enough to for me to say that one should exercise caution when reading past the Gilgamesh fight.

I know this feel. I cringed when I decided to start doing FSN fanfiction and had to go and cleanse most of my old stuff.

I don't believe Mozco can save this mess even if he tried, especially considering how much he likes Caster Alter.

Have you tried Private Messaging him? As long as you are trying to help by telling the author's fatal flaws and giving him suggestions, it is not wrong. I also noticed he did not post his latest chapter in Beast's Lair.

It is never a question of wrongness, I will be as harsh as I have to to get my point across. The point is that Mozco has derailed this far beyond what is salvageable, and he clings far too desperately to the bad parts of the fic like Caster and Saber and Rin. I'm wasting my time by giving such an author critique, and I honestly don't care enough about CT to bother.

And yeah he hasn't posted the new chapters on BL for almost a year now. I want to believe he's trying to escape the fact that CT, which was once liked far too much on BL, is now on the same shitlist as Path of the King.

I mostly just figured RadiantBeam was the only reason he actually came here, so when she left he left with her.

I find it hard to believe that CT could be anywhere near as bad as PotK. A few weak chapters haven't ruined the whole thing for me.

he stopped coming here when people were still raving about him (and people still are for fics that aren't CT. Or even CT which hogged the top spot of ongoing fics in the rec thread for a long while)

if anything the cause and effect might be the other way around here

He obviously doesn't come to BL because of there being Skeletons inside of EVERYONE WHO POSTS HERE. And that is spooky.

Or you know because he just kinda moved on from this community because most of the folks he seemed to interact with had moved on as well.

I find it hard to believe that CT could be anywhere near as bad as PotK. A few weak chapters haven't ruined the whole thing for me.

It certainly is in a rut as far as the plot goes. The storytelling has declined, especially in the treatment of characters like Rin and Saber.

This chapter especially was little more than cute antics, which lacked the necessary effect you'd expect to develop from the plot thus far. It actually dulls the dramatic impact of previous events, since this is somewhat silly in comparison.

And Caster. Caster is, at this point, a problem. Her existence is driving the plot in a strange few directions, without also carrying some dramatic tones necessary to remain consistent with the introduction. And this is actually a bad thing if you look at the direction everything was going before. Losing Berserker, for example, had impact. Caster sexing up Sakura and the two of them acting cute about it, less so.

But okay yeah it's still better than Path of the King.

Path of the King is actually really good and touches upon the themes of "self-insertion" and "living out fantasies vicariously through fanfiction" and "using the setting to tell a story using characters sharing the same name and vague traits as those in the original work" really well.
