+1 for "Smells Like a Teen Spirit" ( by Roadbuster )

A very enjoyable one-shot about Canaan and Riesbyfe as they take on TATARI, which I love for many reasons, out of which the two most important are:
1 ) it gives some much needed love to "Canaan", and even ties it with the ( rest of ) Nasuverse
2 ) it features Ries, who is always awesome

Apart from giving love and screentime to characters and shows who really deserve and need it, there are of course other reasons why I'm recommending this short story; it is well written, save for an odd grammatical error and an omission of a word here and there, but it's only nitpicking, really.
The story deals with an interesting premise of TATARI appearing in Shanghai and drawing Canaan into its vortex. The events of "Canaan" start happening all over again, and the story does a good job of portraying Canaan's fears and doubts and how she has to cope with reliving the same traumatizing events.

Ries is Ries; fun and awesome, and never missing a chance to use musical vocabulary and metaphors. The story also touches on her relationship with Sion, though, unfortunately, there isn't much time given to the interactions of the two due to how the story plays out. But what little there is of their interactions and relationship is well-written and even heartwarming. Drawing parallels between Sion/Ries and Canaan/Maria, even if it was only for a few lines, was a great move by the author.

While it's definitely not an action piece, with the heart of the story lying in the subtle but strong emotional turmoil of the characters, it does contain a few short action scenes which are definitely engaging and well-written, making use of Canaan's unique abilities and Ries' impressive fighting skills and weapons.

To conclude; I strongly recommend it for all fans of "Canaan" and "Melty Blood".

Actually, in the modern era, things that are mass-produced are usually of vastly greater complexity than things that aren't, because the scale of manufacture means you can invest a lot of Capital, including engineering design.

So, while there is a difference between "lower quality" and "higher quality" products, production volumes aren't a good indicator; if higher quality goods have a lower volume that's usually a demand-limit rather than a supply-limit.

Anyway, how is what you're imagining any different from the Original Assembly Line? I mean, at some point yeah, you just weigh up whether it's cheaper to hire someone to perform the same "lift the panel, place against the frame, torque six bolts with the air hammer" operation all day long, compared to programming a robot to do it.

If anything, hand assembly is lower quality because humans make errors, they can't unfailingly repeat the same operation hundreds of times in a row.

How many person-hours of labor goes into producing something has jack to do with the "quality", it's just a measure of how expensive it is to make something.

Maybe you can say a car is high-quality because it's hand-crafted or whatever, but if the bolts that its made out of weren't manufactured with minimum human labor, the car would fall apart, because you can't deliver bolts to material spec at pennies a pop if they're not mostly automated manufacture.
