Recommended Type-Moon Fanfics Discussion II: Electric Boogaloo

This will be a long list...

First off, a recommendation:

Into the Rain by RadiantBeam

At its core, a "what if" fic that centers on Rin finding Sakura in HF before Shirou can, resulting in a more immediate acceptance of her sisterly feelings. Followed by awakening of feelings that aren't really appropriate for sisters, although Tokiomi would probably be proud of how well she's decided to treat Sakura as if she really were from another family entirely... Contains RadiantBeam's usual trademark skill at evoking romantic feelings combined with plenty of well-drawn imagery; the scene of Rin at her father's grave is exceptionally well-done. Also Shirou may be getting the best consolation prize ever for losing his love interest.

(Seriously, RB, you need to finish this one!)

While on the topic of RadiantBeam, I note that "Moonlight on Steel" is listed among the one-shots; it's actually four chapters. (As is Objective: Emiya and its six parts)

Moving on to Moczo:

Mind of Aluminum

Rin teams up with Shinji and finds that, amazingly enough, he really has something to offer that will guide her to victory in the Holy Grail War! Because even if it wasn't as funny as hell, any fic that contains the line "… are you suggesting we shoot Shinji out of a catapult to spread disease? Because I can get behind that." should get a rec for that alone.

And also by Sir Moc of Zo, The Importance of Proper Communication A funny one-shot about the confrontations in Eps. 14-15 of Fate/Zero, Tokiomi/Kariya and Berserker/Gil. Because Happiness Worms are, surprisingly, not a thing!

Also, +1 to Lunatique (Best. Oneshot. Ever.), Chaos Theory, The Hill of Swords (Don't kill me!), Remember, Fate/Far Side, Shinderella, Steel and Cherry Blossoms, Of Leaves and Lilacs, What If (Almost) Everybody Was Shirou's Servant, Daughter of Shinigami, Sick Time, Objective: Emiya, and Moonlight on Steel.

-1 to Nerve Damage. The mere phrase "Shirou summons four Sabers" makes me want to reach for the barf bag even before we get to the actual fic.

(I know Moonlight on Steel is four chapters but I figured it was still limited in scope and relatively short, so yeah. If you can come up with a better descriptor than "one-shot" I'd appreciate it)

FateGeass: The Eden Vital War by Alfheimwanderer
A retelling of Code Geass with a few elements of the Nasuverse, not the whole system mind you, tossed in for funsies. No characters from Nasu appear so it's mostly a Code Geass story, but enough elements from Type Moon are present to merit the rec in this thread methinks. Milly Ashford get's ascended to not a background character which is always a plus in my book. The parallels between some of the servants and the characters that are, for lack of a better term, mimicking them are pretty compelling. Namely Suzaku and Lelouch. It's a fun ride that has a fairly satisfying end. Not the most serious of stories. Important to note that most of the nasu elements are twisted to match the story rather than the story being molded to fit the elements. Complete.

Eternal Geass Moon:The Garden of Sinners by Alfheimwanderer

The supernatural elements of Code Geass are totally replaced with Nasu's schtick with some fudging to make it work. Fucking everyone is ported over too. You've got Mana Ryougi pretty much being her mum, Milly Ashford as a Rin analogue, Archer style Ilya, Zelretch that isn't awful lolItrollyou, military efficient Enforcers, and about a bazillion other things. Dead Apostles Ancestors, Magicians, Knightmares, international politics, ESPers, and all kinds of other diverse elements from the involved franchises are brought together into a very enjoyable story. The sheer amount of stuff going on can be overwhelming, and sometimes the elements crash together instead of flowing with the story. And it hasn't been updated in roughly one forever.

The latest in her Catharsis series, Elf gets back to the couple she does best. After recovering from Kotomine's attack during the Grail War, Rin is surprised to find Archer somehow miraculously resurrected. However the mass resurrection isn't as happy as it seems as people try to make new lives, and Matou Shinji realizes he has many sins to atone for. It has all the fun character interactions and development that we've come to expect from Elf's works. And also, there will be porn. Glorious, glorious porn.

There's other +1s and such I need to add eventually. ^^" But another one on the roster never hurts~
