I just started Psyren after seeing it hyped to hell and back as the hidden gem of the battle shounen genre. I've heard for a while about how it never got the anime it deserved, it ran just long enough to do some fun things without overstaying its welcome, that its only weak point is the obviously rushed ending, etc. So I decided to see what all the chatter was about.

So far, so good

The premise of bouncing back and forth between Japan and the wasteland is an interesting one, and I wonder how these psychic powers will shake out. I'm liking the chemistry between the three lead characters based on what little I've seen so far, though the disastrous first trip makes me wonder if this is going to be the kind of series with a high body count and a rotating cast of Drifters.

I absolutely loved Psyren, I still remember waiting and checking when I could at my local library for the next volume to show up. It should have gotten an anime.

McGillis wasn't able to get the support of the Seven Stars in the end, so now his fleet and Tekkadan will have to fight Rustal's fleet, which outnumbers them, by themselves. They started putting armor on the Gundam Vidar, so I wonder how it will look in the end, and I thought Arta confessing to Mikazuki was cute too. McGillis said that this is going to be the final battle, so this episode is just the calm before the storm.Episode 19

I can't wait to see what's going to happen next week.

So... I finally watched the first Eva Rebuild movie. It was pretty good.

Even though I don't think a single day has gone by in the last decade where the final train scene hasn't crossed my mind at least once, it's been like a year since I actually rewatched 5 Centimeters per Second. Just because it moves me so much that no matter how man times I've rewatched it, it still hasn't failed to (re)instill this lingering sense of heart-wrench in me that doesn't go away for a while. Fuck, just thinking about it for extended periods of time messes me up.

Anyway, I'm gonna be watching it again this Saturday and was thinking of doing a group watch. I know kirby's probably down, dunno if anyone else wants to join in but thought I'd ask on the slight chance someone does wanna jump in.

I'm not sure I could group-watch 5cm/s, as much as I want to watch it again. It's more something I'd prefer with 1 or at most 2 other people; watching anything with more than that many and a simulwatch invariably and regardless of context becomes a memewatch.

How exactly would this work, someone streams it and we watch the stream or we all watch it on our own and just post comments in discord?

Everyone has [Legally Acquired Copies] on their computers and talks on Discord voicechat, is how most group watches tend to go.

Well, the way I do it is we all have the same [legally acquired copies] on our computers and we synch up our players using synchplay so that it's for sure we're all on the exact same spot in the film. That way in case someone needs to take a piss, we all don't have to do the awkward individual pausing and having to try and start up again at around the same times.
