@Koto
Yah I was about to suggest the same thing something along the lines of "You are basically the only translator we have for this stuff until CanonRap and Brynhilde are free"
But I think it is pretty obvious he wants the other Japanese speaking people on this forum (who there are apparently quite a few of) to pick up the slack and do their duty.
Come on your a college student as of last semester, you can't be that busy amirite.
Pay back your debt from when you depended on fan translations.
I feel that the community deserves the very best in translations, better than what I could provide. You should not have to settle for less!
And I'm lazy, that too.
Actually, part of the reason I'm shit at translating is that I'm not a writer so I can't rephrase things to sound natural or even get the point across half of the time.
(call me crazy if you must)
Get an editor.
Even if they only speak English as long as it does not read like the Kizumonogatari translation at Baka-Tsuki I'm sure everyone would gobble it up and declare you a hero.
Aren't there quite a few fans that settled for that Google translate patch they were so desperate?
Are you implying you are less than a machine translation Koto?
Edit: maybe get someone who is into philology or something like that and maybe they could help you?
Translation makes me neurotic. I'm decent enough to get the gist of what's going on in Japanese, but taking that and converting it into good, not-just-a-literal-translation English without accidentally adding or removing nuance, all while keeping the author's "voice" intact? Can't do it.
Though someday, I do want to be good enough at it that people trust everything I say, just so I can troll them with fake information spun entirely out of whole cloth.
But noob translators feeding people half-assed TLs just so they can get credit pisses me off. I would feel guilty. ;_;Even if they only speak English as long as it does not read like the Kizumonogatari translation at Baka-Tsuki I'm sure everyone would gobble it up and declare you a hero.

(Fate/EXTRATranslation Politics discussion)
I like you.
My plan for revenge on the world is a lot shakier.
a) Become good writer
b) make characters people care about
c) visit the worst fates imaginable upon them (preferably something more sophisticated than simple rape and murder)
But I found out that not only does step a) have a very low chance of success, but Urobuchi Gen has essentially beaten me by years.
Might still try to copycat though
@Koto
It's not half assed if you put your SOUL into it. Or at least what is left over from college and loving shinji.
Y'know when he was saying that we should be writers I thought he was implying we should do this the first time I read it.Though someday, I do want to be good enough at it that people trust everything I say, just so I can troll them with fake information spun entirely out of whole cloth.

That's so crazy it just might work!
That actually happened with the Bokurano Light Novel translations.
They were writing fanfiction passing it off as the real novel and a year or two later someone came in who actually read the novel and went 'what is this shit?'.
The Hall of Selected Cruor Praise
Oh wow, just looked it up, that's hilarious.
Oh the drama!

Lol what really? You mean a fan translation or commercial?
Also I realize translation is hard work, I am taking a class that is essentially nothing but Nietzsche and my professor points out mistakes in the Hollingdale translation all the time.
Guess what though. Even with Hollingdale completely missing all the German wordplay (and as far as a lot of scholars are concerned the whole point of the book) it is still used in Universities.
I mean if its good enough for academia. Not to mention you will essentially have a monopoly.
Those plans to localize it over at Nis do not seem to be going through.
Edit: That drama indeed
hmm... maybe my joke suggestion was not a good idea

Yeah, I found that and read through it right before you posted it. Kind of made me mad. But then it's also kind of hilarious. "Oh, I dunno, but you get a totally different version of the book if you buy the ebook version, it's so lol random, crazy right? You don't believe me? DIE FILTHY STALKER."
I especially liked the bit where that Fast Eddie guy proved what a total moron he is by banning the person posting the complaints without bothering to read the actual argument first (looking through the ban complaint thread, there were a few more like that, too, like one guy who was banned for being uncivil in an edit reason when reverting an edit that just said LOLOLOLOL)....
The mods on there seem to be morons in general, in fact. They seem to just make decisions entirely arbitrarily without bothering to take the time to look into what they're deciding on.
That's what happens when you have a big forum, the mods are probably super busy policing everything.
We (and by we I mean you guys, I joined days ago) should be grateful that our mods actually participate in forum activities, know the people posting, and that this forum is relatively small and covers one topic.

I think it was a splendid idea. Let's even modify the game so that Shinji takes Ryougi's place as the secret boss and Ryougi is the 8 year old hacker. People will have their mind blown.hmm... maybe my joke suggestion was not a good idea
