Depends on the person. Some become more conservative as they get older, some don't. I know people who lived in very racist neighborhoods and their families are very liberal now.

Two party systems are a pain in the ass. I mean we're basically a two party system up here in Canada, but both parties have have collapsed into only a handful of representatives in my lifetime. Keeps them honest when they go from leading the country to two seats in parliament, neither of which is the party head.
That's even in FPTP systems. The US is just unique in that social democrat candidates are seen as viable as communists while the Dems as socially liberal/fiscally conservative party in the style of an ALDE member is a ruling party (probably McCarthyism aftershock, idk how else this could happen). In most countries this is a 10% at best ideology.
VP sweepstakes is beating up. Wonder if Biden will announce quickly or hold off for the extra media attention
Meanwhile, between the plague and the campaign, stuff like this gets drowned out.
And at the same time, Trump is threatening to force Congress out of session so he can ram through appointees without them having to go through the normal approval process.
Yeah as I understand it it’s an empty threat since pelosi can take a page straight out of the Wisconsin GOP’s playbook by gaveling in and out immediately
Yup, and the Supreme Court previously ruled against Obama on pulling much the same stunt. Even the Grim Reaper of the Senate thought it was dumb...
Actually, in saying that, it made me realize that Mitch is to Trump as Death is to Dracula... Isn't it sad, Castlevania?
Seems like the rich folks are noticing...
Is it just me or is the US starting to feel like Yugoslavia circa 1989?
Maybe, but nowhere near as toxic. I haven't seen anywhere near the level of nationalist rhetoric coming out of the Dems as from the Reps. Likewise, there's not really a single "American" identity that people can rally around beyond political movements with a lot of nuances between them. The actively ethnonationalist movements here don't represent a significant portion of the population, just a distressingly influential one. If they did, the SBC would probably still be segregated rather than being headed by a black man.
What I'm more afraid of is the beginning of a conflict between rival insurgent movements, none of whom have the power or skill to organize into a cohesive force, take and hold territory,
or meaningfully govern, let alone have the legitimacy to, but who do have the weapons and know-how needed to produce "lone wolf" attacks.
The level of security held by the economic and political elites makes attacks against them unlikely to succeed, but terrorist attacks against the poor, middle, and working classes or against facilities would be viable. That's not a good situation for anyone, unless you happen to not benefit from the US in the global supply chain and just hate the average American rather than the jackasses running the shitshow.
Is that before, or after the civil war?
To some, America died on 26/12/91
Speaking of things that happened in the past, today is the fiftieth anniversary of Apollo 13's return to Earth
The fearless leader of Texas Gregg “genocide” Abbott has boldly announced his intent to make Texas the first state to fully re-open.
on a related note, I hear both Austin and Dallas have new outbreak clusters

And we got Trump supporters protesting to open up businesses in Annapolis as well like they had in Michigan. We'll see if Hogan sticks to his guns to keep things closed until the 30th or not.
Dead men tell no tales, but their next of kin might.
And the economy is going to tank anyway.
