I always found it weird how they blurred the line between NPs and skills- Invisible Air, something that was never part of the legend, so little of a threat to a heroic spirit that she never considers using it against anyone but the two Assassins, is an NP. Gorgon's eyes, the main part of her legend, far more well known than Cybele, Andromeda or Pegasus (as part of her legend, at least), and frankly a whole lot more deadly, is a skill instead of an NP.
Breaker Gorgon being an NP seems particularly egregious. Bloodfort and Bellerophon? Fine, whatever. But BG's main purpose in the narrative is just sealing away Rider's mystic eyes—eyes which themselves are only a personal skill. I know it technically has other functions, but that's what it's used for in the story. How many other Servants are there where the main function of one of their NPs is managing one of their personal skills?
I remember Side Material saying that, Invisible Air wasn't exactly a Noble Phantasm, but in fact just simply Magecraft. I would like it to continue that way. But in later interviews and materials Nasu classified this as a NP after all...
I mean, it was a NP in the VN to begin with
Has any hero so far other than Arturia and debatably Jack (who is the opposite of "famous enough to be recognisable" either way)ever had something like that?

Off the top of my head Karna has Uncrowned Arms Mastery, but that just makes his opponents think he's a scrub. Apparently being clad in (famous) golden armor and wielding a (famous and also pretty damn distinctive) spear don't merit hiding?
Having an identity too easy to guess is the reason why Rama is summoned without his blue skin and Chiron without his horse legs. Chiron at least gets his legs back in FGO with Ascension, but Rama never becoming blue again is kinda stupid, especially because he never once tried to hide his identity.
Wouldn't be the only time something was listed under the NP tab on the in-game status screen, and then later described as "not actually an NP" in the mats. UBW received similar treatment.
Off the top of my head, For Someone's Glory, Secret of Pedigree and Perseus's unnamed helm all do something along these lines.
Fair enough, although all of these things hide the Servant's body rather than their distinguishing NP's.
The seals covering Diarmuid spears.
Is it really Nasu's back in this shot here?

I don’t know why you consider it a minor threat to servants. It’s a solid Noble Phantasm Nuke, but more than that it’s amazing utility. Super turbo boost speed burst? Invisible air. Want to guard an entire skyscraper with a barrier of wind? Invisible air. Ect.
If anything it’s one of the best lower ranked NPs period.
As far as magecraft that’s NPs. One can safely assume that if magecraft was what it originally was, then it’s elevated to a noble phantasm that’s a spell.
Magecraft is the reproduction and mimicry of phenomena and miracles carved into culture, while Noble Phantasms are crystallizations of such things with permission by the human order.
In a way a magecraft is something fake and imitative while a Noble Phantasm is the real miracle and thing. Their statuses are different.
I guess it’s like a pawn promoting to a queen for spells elevated to NPs.
It's also done her almost zero favours and managed a grand total of zero Servant damage.
Yeah, it's pretty strong as power moves go- it's meant to be an AoE nuke that takes out a few hundred soldiers all on its own, but that's the sort of thing that doesn't work in a series where the characters have to yell their move names, and where it has an superior bigger brother, the shiny magic sword with the cooler name. It'll never actually accomplish anything in the Nasuverse, it doesn't have any reason to be an NP.
To be fair, it's the decisive factor in her battle against Cú Chulainn.

Before he pulls out Gáe Bolg, of course.
I mean you could argue that Gae Bolg is useless it never killed anyone but that’s an asinine position to take because we know what it can do, and what it does.
Same with IA
Gae Bolg did a pretty good job of killing Kirei.
Edit: unless we're talking about literally the activation of Gae Bolg and not just the spear itself. In which case, at least it hurt someone, compared to Invisible Air which exists solely to make you take a bit longer to guess Saber's identity and has no other bearing on the plot.
Tbh if not for the anti noble phantasm field at the temple what would’ve stopped Artie from just strike air mulching assassin to save time.
