Yugioh Vrains Episode 71: Maybe people weren't kidding when they said that Lightning was responsible for everything.
watching the newest heroaca, ive always thought heroacas backgrounds are of uncharacteristically poor quality compared to the rest of the show but season 4 really sticks out to me. once you notice the camo patches you cant unsee it.
latest ep i watched (kirishima and fat gum vs punch dude) had a pretty lmao moment when they used a generic sfx but its the one digimon always uses for the digivices activating.
So I've been rewatching Avatar recently, and I'm surprised how much story set up there is in the early episodes. The comet shows up in episode 6. The white Lotus soon after. Azula around 10. Really shows they planned the story out ahead of time, which is something that is missing from Korra.
Also, I had forgotten muttonchops were default fashion for the Fire Nation.
Completed heroaca s4, the season was good overall but once you notice the dirt stain pattern on every surface of heroaca backgrounds theres no going back, it bothered me like crazy lol. Its so damn ugly. That is one HELLA dirty city. No wonder one of the top heroes is a dude whose power is to wash stuff, his services are truly needed.
theres also this dumb texture they like to use on certain rocks and trees thats so fake and ugly and really dont belong there, it instantly steals all attention
atelier musa has generally poor rep but they really outdid themselves this season with these bgs (in a bad way ofc), holy fricc.
I never came across this complaint before so I'm interested in seeing examples.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 24: So the Hashira and that Kanao girl can do Total Concentration Breathing all the time. I don't know why he wasn't trained to do that before though. And that nose of Tanjiro's can pick up on so many things. I liked the talk he and Shinobu had, I feel like I understand her better now. So many interesting people have shown up and the show is almost over...
I watched a few episodes of the Akame ga Kill dub on Netflix, and that made me want to go watch a good anime.
So I'm starting Darker than BLACK for the third time. Pity about the second season.
i dont have any screenshots but just open any given indoor scene and look at the floor, the walls, the ceiling, the desks and other furniture. Theres this stain looking pattern they slap on literally everything regardless of what material its supposed to be made of to give an impression of shading but i dont think it looks good, it just looks really dirty. Most unfortunate usage of it was when bakugo and todoroki retook their exams and the audience chairs had the same stains, it made it look like people had been dropping their cokes all over the chairs. As for the weird rock & tree textures they were more rare, I really wish i had taken a screenshot of the particular rock texture that completely took me out of the scene, i was floored by how poor quality it was.
if you search atelier musa on twitter you'll find some people complaining about heroaca (and yakuneba) bgs and a couple screenshots too but bgs are not things people generally pay much attention to I guess. it didnt bother me THIS much in earlier seasons but since a big part of this season took part in the dreary, ugly undertaker labyrinth it really stood out.
Gotcha, I'll look for that.
The Jet Black Flower manga spin-off was the true sequel.
The second season doesn't exist... https://i.imgur.com/5THqQum.gif
the 4 ep OVA series was solid too
The OVA was an obvious course correction. It went back to everything that made the first season great, although it was still shackled to S2 with all of that DESTROYER stuff. Ah well, at least they tried.
It gave me some hope that BONES might revisit the series in some form, and it might take after the original instead of the sequel. How naive of me.
I'll have to check out that manga spinoff. Thanks for the recommendation
Did the OVA come out after the second season?
Yep
Chronologically, it is set between seasons one and two, acting as a bridge.
In real world production order, it went season one -> season two -> OVA. The OVA is great and almost feels like an apology for the divisive S2.
I guess someone wanted DtB to go out on a high note.
Finished Otherside Picnic.
As most things I read, it's pretty much yuri except no direct confirmation. Not that I need it anyway.
A collection of net ghost stories bundled up into most unpleasant images. The cast is real small and relies mostly on quirks to operate, the open ending is...eh. Kinda feels like the author cut the book into two, but only one half got translated. It sorta kinda has that feel that first season of Supernatural had (when it was still sorta scary and didn't have angels punching it out). Not bad, but not very good, I guess.
Finally got around to starting Sket Dance, having a good time this far. The humor strongly reminds me of Gintama, which is good because I love Gintama, so I am expecting to see if they deal with more serious things with the same kind of quality.
