Well. May as well be official with him gone.
RWBY may end up as one of those things I might read up on later to see what places it's gone.

Ohhhhhh... Ace-Ops. Aesops. I wish I could say I didn't know how I could miss it, but they're so uninteresting I never gave them a second thought outside of Clover having a the stupidest weapon so far and being yaoi bait for Qrow.
It’s quite amazing how much time is wasted on Cinder when she loses nearly every fight she’s involved with.
And Cinder's backstory is filled with even more failure. Has she won once outside of Pyrrha? Even that one has big airquotes around won, since she came out of it without an arm and eye. I'm honestly surprised though, from what we saw I would have expected her to shank her 'Mother' in the back with a knife after a few torture sessions, not wait years to snap.
a real anime now
lmao
Haven't really been following Rwby since Vol 3 but this might be worth checking out.

It looks nice. I don't have faith in that studio to make good fights though.
That's a bunch of season 1 in there.
Is it even still RWBY without the buttrock?
Character designs look really bad...
Also their guns are shooting lasers? Lame.
Gun-weapons were half the reason I was interested in seeing anything RWBY so I guess I'm out.
The character deisgns look great IMO. But i've always loved Huke's art, so I'm biased. Still, hard for it to be worse than the OG show writing or looks-wise. Please, no one tell me they prefer the CG look, regardless of circumstances.
Yeah, I've only seen a few episodes of monogatari and Last Encore, and there's great atmosphere, but the fights were wooden.
Still, it looks very nice.
My biggest concern is that Gen Urobuchi is the writer, and as good as his track record, the last thing I saw by him wasGodzilla vs. the Space NoodleGodzilla: The Eater of Stars, and that entire movie was an hour long sermon on the super-hyper-mega-orgasmic joys of mindshattering, brain-exploding, psychosis-inducing terror, immediately followed by annihilation both physical and metaphysical. In which Ghidora was a space noodle who bites Godzilla and then they stand still for an hour while Johnny Yong Bosch gives the aforementioned sermon in his 'sexy' voice. Part of me died watching that movie. It died several times. But I was invested. But I'm getting off topic.
Since this is Urobucher, Yang prolly won't lose her arm, Adam'll just decapitate her and violate her corpse. Pyrrha will still die, but not before Cinder finds Jaune and forces Pyrrha to watch as she murders him. Or maybe she'll somehow force Pyrrha to kill Jaune herself. And then the narrative will demonstrate that Pyrrha's death counted for nothing.
Qrow's gonna die. If Weiss doesn't turn to the Dark Side, she's gonna die. Roman's death will mindbreak Neo. Nora's so bubbly and cheery that if nobody literally threatens to break Urobuchi's hands, she's going to get raped and murdered while Ren is forced to watch.
I'm assuming that it'll be at least as horrifying as the darkest parts of Fate/Zero. Except much more so because Urobuchi now has felt what it's like to exterminate all of humanity, so, just for example, I'm pretty sure that if he were to rewrite Kayneth's death, it would be twice as brutal. Thus these are all hypotheticals, and it'll probably be far darker than anything I came up with here.
Urobuchi is not the writer.
He's credited for 原案 which is more like "drafter". His involvement is not as large as his name is.
Also I think you're mistaking Urobutchi for the guy who wrote Redo of Healer. Like sure, bad shit happens in his stories but he rarely tortures characters.
Monogatari and Last Encore TV are also far from SHAFT's best action showcases. Assault Lily Bouquet has great fights, as does Magia Record at it's best (sadly MR is more inconsisten because production issues). Even Last Encore had some great fights at the end like Nero vs Gawain or the final fight vs Deadface Twice

. Urobuchi's penchant for suffering is exagerated in that post, I agree. More so, modern Urobuchi. Look at Exiled from Paradise or Thunderbolt Fantasy. They aren't excessively cruel or ultra edgy like that.
The main writer is Tow Ubukata anyways, who isn't also an edgefest grimdark writer even if his stories are bleak (Look at Fafner of the Azure, Heroic Age or Mardock Scramble)
Here's all the information I've gathered about the movie.

it's going to be a tv show with the first few episodes being a recap of V1-V2. And is "canon-adjacent" and takes place in the original RWBY world, it's not an AU or whatever though while staying faithful to canon it isn't.Quote:
Hey FNDM!
Well that was a helluva weekend, huh?? We hope you’re as excited for RWBY: Ice Queendom as we are. This moment has been a long time coming. Believe it or not, this new show has been in the works for almost a decade.
The story goes that, about 8 years ago, Monty was at a convention and stopped by the Good Smile Company booth. He loved their products and wanted to explore a partnership with them. While they were talking, they started kicking around the idea of creating a new RWBY side-series. But rather than creating it in Austin with CRWBY, this new story would be traditionally animated in Japan by a world class studio.
Flash forward a few years and here we are, bringing this incredible new vision to life with some of the biggest names in anime: BANDAI NAMCO Arts, Good Smile Company, SHAFT, and Crunchyroll, with additional support from Warner Bros. Japan and KLab, Inc. Not only that, but we’ve assembled a dream team of anime heavweights for the core creative team: Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero), Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble, Tenchi: The Samurai Astronomer, Fafner in the Azure), huke (Black Rock Shooter, chitocerium, Steins;Gate), and Toshimasa Suzuki (Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne, Fafner in the Azure: Heaven and Earth). And of course, Rooster Teeth’s own Kerry Shawcross, Eddy Rivas, Erin Winn, and Christine Brent have been collaborating with the Japan team every step of the way.
Outside of that, the main cast of RWBY are returning to voice their characters: Lindsay, Kara, Arryn, and Barbara are all returning, as are their Japanese counterparts: Saori Hayami as Ruby Rose, Yoko Hikasa as Weiss Schnee, Yu Shimamura as Blake Belladonna, and Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiao Long.
Somebody pinch me, because I must be dreaming.

I’m sure y’all have a ton of questions - many of which I’m not allowed to answer just yet! But I’ll do my best to answer what I can here.
First, the world of RWBY: Ice Queendom is NOT an alternate universe or a reboot. While the story is set in the same universe as the main show, we’re calling it “canon adjacent”. The new show is incredibly faithful to the original, while also taking some fun new liberties to switch things up a bit. The first two episodes of RWBY: IQ will recap V1 - V2 before kicking things off into a bold new adventure, full of new characters, new settings, new surprises, and (of course) new Grimm. Not only that, but you’ll also see a ton of familiar faces, too. While changes made to the existing RWBY content are not technically considered canon, it's a story that absolutely could exist alongside other RWBY content -- we just wanted the Japan team to be able to have as much fun with it as they wanted. Now as to what the story of the show is all about….well you’ll just have to wait and see!
Second, I’ve seen a lot of questions about when and where the show is airing. The show will release this summer; we’ll be sharing the exact release date in the near future. It will premiere on Japanese television, with subtitled and dubbed versions available the same day to audiences on Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth FIRST. New episodes will premiere weekly. It’s also worth noting that episodes will follow traditional anime runtimes.
Feel free to drop additional questions in the comments section. I’ll answer what I can, but remember: we have plenty of surprises left to reveal and I can’t share too much just yet.
We can’t wait for y’all to see what we have in store for you when the show launches later this summer. Wherever Monty is, I hope he’s smiling down on us. I only met him once, back in 2013, long before I worked for RT. But even in the few moments I shared with him, I could see his drive, passion, creativity, and joy. We're so incredibly proud to keep his flame going, both in our own RWBY series and now with RWBY: Ice Queendom.
Monty: your dream finally came true. This one’s for you.

And it's gonna release in the summer.
Wow that Weiss and Pyrhha are looking good. And decidedly Not Dead.
If I'm not wrong when sites for TV shows have a "movie" section, what they mean is "videos". It is in said "movie" section of the sites that you find officially released videos of the project, such as trailers and stuff. Clciked it, and yep. "Movie" means "videos". What's there right now is the trailer we have. With and without subs
