Why is Kotomine so sure about Shirou winning the Holy Grail War in the Superhero bad end?
He does not have the GARm, he does not have Saber,he does not have UBW he has to defeat Rin and Archer, Rider would not want to cooperate and Zouken could easily kill him in his sleep with TA, not to forget that Berserker and Gil are still alive.
In this scenario Rin seems to have the best chance IF Berserker gets defeated. If not, then Gil would win.
I no know, maybe it has to do with Kiritsugu defeating him even though he could go "melt Servant's face" level in an instant. Really strange things happen in the Nasuverse.
Even though I already had an idea about Shirou gaining a Unlimited Blade Works before reading the route, if you had told me just with my knowledge of the anime/ first two routes that Shirou would get his arm melted off and then won the war thanks to a replacement arm from Archer, which would then allow him to kill Berserker by himself, and that being one of his less impressive feats, I may have punched you in the face that was not a face but a bullshit spout. It may seem normal now that we have all read and reread it but it was really weird the first time I saw that.
So yeah Shirou's mind of steel plus insert henceforth unseen and unthought of magic boost (command spell donation by Kotomine?) equals absolute victory.
Because Mind of Steel means you're willing to do anything to win. Like killing Ilya whilst Berserker is distracted with another Servant. Or manipulating masters into going into conflict with each other. Or finding a Servant who's not satisfied with their contract and teaming with them. et cetera, et cetera.
Losing your morals and Servant open up a whole set of new options.

But even if he lets everyone kill each other he has no ways of actually destroying or obtaining the grail.
Theorists believe Kotomine will give Shirou Gil and Shirou would go all Kiritsugu on everyone. As Kotomine never lies. Mike says, while Kotomine doesn't lie he gives half truths and he's probably gonna have Gil backstab him in the end or he was just joking about it (or something can't really remember).

True but then doesn't the third person narrator come in and say he wins?
Yeah, but saying he's gonna win is a pretty big statement. He doesn't lie which means he probably wins. But the argument Mike and some others are saying is that Kotomine might have been giving off a half truth that while he does succeed in beating all the Masters and Servants (actually, I think Mike was saying it's impossible without Gil for Shirou) he wouldn't get the Grail.
^thought it just said 'there's no need to say the obvious outcome. Emiya Shirou will turn his mind to steel and become a superhero' or something like that. Doesn't say he wins.

If a switch in mentality allows Kotomine to defeat immortal Ciel than I don't see how Mind of Steel Shirou can't be even better.
I'm telling you guys he gets some boost we would never dream about, like that arm transplant.
Elf's theory is that when Kotomine said "Emiya Shirou" he meant Archer, who kills Shirou, saves everyone, is freed from his duty as a CG, bangs Rin, Sakura and Rider, marries Elf and has twenty babies.
It's not a very popular theory, though.

Gilgamesh: here, let me do that for you because I can, and I dare you to stop me. *wins the Grail War singlehandedly in one hour*
Here you go kid *tosses all the evils of the world at Shirou, watches as he dies*
Oh, forgot to tell you that's what the grail was. lulz, don't care, bye now.

Dunno if MoS!Shirou would have enough conviction for it.
