Magi are very, very buttmad about science. Science is the cancer that is killing magic.
    Good point.

Not true. Magi have at least three flavours of "vacuum/nothingness".
But aren't those like concepts? I mean the actual physical vacuum you get when you pump a space free of all air and everything else. (In other words: My memory is shit and I don't remember those three)

Nah, Science would be more like:

How does that work? How does Prana work? Well that isn't a reliable system. Why don't you do X, it'll increase efficiency. Well, that isn't replicable.

If we found out magic today, Scientists would be all over it trying to find out what makes it tick. Magi would run in fear as the Science community and the Governments tried to get a hold of them.

I just want to point out that we don't actually know what the First Magic is or what it does. Denial of Nothingness could be a lot of things. You seem to think that pulling "something" out of "nothing" might be similar, but keep in mind that the only thing we know for sure might be connected to the First in some way are ether clumps, which are literally materialized nothingness. It's a ball of non-existence you can hold in your hand and toss around, wrap your mind around that one.

I wouldn't doubt it if some major groups and governments know about magecraft. For all of their trying to keep it secret, magi don't do that good a job of concealing the "secrets" of their work. The British government alone probably has some info dug up on the Clock Tower.

Those are elements, which means some magus out there can manipulate those. Actually, you got Sakura already. The "Shadow Giants" are not made of shadow. They are made of one of those "nothingness" element.

    Edit:

They are "虚", "無", and "空". And Ryougi is like what, "虚無" or something.

4th and 5th Grail War come to mind. Not to mention all the Dead and vampires. I'm pretty sure most major governments have a MIB agency for this stuff. (Would be weird if they didn't)

In the Nasuverse it'd be more like:

Somebody brings magecraft to the attention of science.
Everybody looks at magecraft at the same time.
Magecraft stops working due to the sudden degradation of mystery.
Science tells neckbeards to get the fuck out of his office with that nonsense.

Like, memory manipulation spells go a long way. I would not be surprised if the Association has it's hands in controlling at least a couple larger governments around the world (say the US, UK, China, etc).

Really? That's how it works? I thought it was based on how many people actually use magecraft. Given how Mass Media works, one giant battle and all of Magecraft disappears due to Youtube.

The Church probably does more of that, it's supposed to be the most powerful organization in the Nasuverse after all.

Magi are also hilariously unaware of cellphone cameras, the internet and satellite imaging, though. Good thing FSN is set in the late 90s!

Except most mages are autistic and just lurk in their basements.

Remember, most the magi we saw are actually the "deviants" among the magi.

Isn't the Church and the Association on relatively equal terms? Due to the fact that the Church has lost influence over the last century or something? Or am I misremembering things again?

No, they just have a cease-fire agreement.

Cease-fire agreement does not mean the Church actually views the Association as equal.

That's why the Association was made. And why they are so anal about Thaumaturgy possibly being brought to the attention of normalfags. Its meant to stop people from finding out about it as the more people who know of Thaumaturgy the weaker it becomes. Which is often why they only really teach one person about their families thaumaturgy. As teaching two weakens it lowering their chance to get to Akasha and whatnot.
