They recieved enough attention to get a movie adaptation.
Which is to say someone at Ufotable likely went "hey Fate (or Tsukihime) is good/popular, what other work has this guy done".

Meanwhile, Heaven's Feel sits there, all by its lonesome, collecting dust.
I don't have my copy of faust with me right now, but iirc there was an interview with nasu that explained it something like this:
Nasu is a writer just out of college or something, Takeuchi talks to him, Nasu writes/publishes KnK on a personal website, later goes with Takeuchi to a con and tries to sell KnK, only ten copies sold, depression, apparently Nasu's writings are like complicated or something, Takeuchi discovers VN market, goes 'let's try switching audiences and writing porn for horny people', Nasu writes Tsuki, proves to be a success, the magnitude of which surprises both of them, Nasu is in the process of writing Fate when an actual publisher or something talks to him about publishing knk, and thus knk actually became a book, sees some decent sales, nasu finishes fate, type moon gets more popular, knk also sees more sales, ufotable approaches Nasu about knk movie, Nasu okays it but on condition that he can see/work with the script due to experiences with his other works being adapted into anime (trololol), later they show him the knk script, Nasu is wow'd, goes 'perfecto, it's perfecto', and so on and so on.
*Oh right, and I think there was something about becoming a rice farmer in there? Maybe if the writer business didn't work out? Don't remember. Random memory jog.

But some information didn't came just from their memories. For example, in Q&A Nasu tells us that Herakles developed Nine Lives when he killed Hydra. If that event didn't happened, should he rather told that Nine Lives is materialization of the tale about fighting Hydra? Also, the situation when Pegasus is really existed from Age of Gods, but Medusa is not, is just non-sequitr.Just because characters had backstories and memories from legends doesn't mean those legends actually happened, it's not a contradiction.
I'm not even going with that Medusa backstory completely different from the legends, and even Herakles story was a bit different.

I'll agree that it doesn't make sense but that's just how it is.

That's why I wonder if Herakles just was imagined into existence during the AoG itself.

@Koto: I see.
@Tang: Thanks for that explanation; do you have any clue where its from?
Fanfiction
Tabula Rasa
He developed Nine Lives in his myth.
If a fictional character in a story book developed a fictional technique and that fictional character came to life in the real world, it stands to reason that the fictional character would possess the fictional technique that he fictionally came up with in his fictional story, right?
Interview in Faust, volume 1, available in english, collection of various short stories
Also, here's a handy dandy picture I made long ago explaining away these sorts of situation.
So useful

Okay, now I'm not debating whether Herakles was a fictional hero, but is it possible that he could have been imagined into existence like a Divine Spirit in his time? He was a demigod who eventually attained godhood after all--like Dionysus.

Nasu didn't said that.He developed Nine Lives in his myth.
I'm taking his statement as written.
Only if you consider some outside writers to be infallible. Which I personally don't, considering the results.I'll agree that it doesn't make sense but that's just how it is.
But the story of Herakles IS a myth. That's kinda common knowledge.

Dragons and Pegasi are mythical creatures. Typhon too. Just as blood-sucking vampires and shapeshifting werewolfes. Olympian Gods are also seen as a myth.
But they are part of the Nasuverse.

Could be the case. For example, Medusa according to Ataraxia was originally a goddes born from people's desire for perfect deity. But as far as I get, CM3 states that she appeared in Throne straight from the tales.Okay, now I'm not debating whether Herakles was a
fictional hero, but is it possible that he could have
been imagined into existence like a Divine Spirit in

I don't see how that backs up your point.
The metamorphosis from goddess to monster is part of the legend that gave birth to Medusa. Medusa was just reciting the legend in HA.
All these "conflicts" seem more constructed by yourself because all the information does not support your per-conceived notion.

What is the difference between Wallachia and Roa biting your neck to turn you to a vampire?
Wallachia bit Sion and yet Sion is a Half Vampire while Sacchin bitten by Roa was full Vampire and needed blood. I wonder if Sacchin can even go to sunlight?
And if Sion drank a Blood Packet, would she go pure vampire?
Chibi V.Sion Army go!
Sion's vampirization is slow because Wallachia only exerts influence over her when TATARI happens.
Blood-sucking does not accelerate or slow your vampirization, it is more an impulse because the vampirazation process is breaking down your body. It's like you get hungry when you digested all the food you ate.
