A rather succinct way of putting it, save I think in nasu's mind choice is an integral part of the equation. Like, these are the things that "could" happen, but the choices made determine what actually does.

Read the Fate visual novel first, of course. There is some stuff you miss out in terms of twist if you first read/watch Zero and then play VN.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend Zero before Fsn because there's a lot of spoilers in there.
