Personally, I've found what I read of "Apocrypha" so far very, very bland in terms of writing. I feel it also wastes quite a bit of its pulp potential - Frankenstein's Monster vs. Shakespeare! Jack the Ripper vs. Dracula! Etc., etc.
That said, I've only read the first two volumes and what we have of the third one. I may change my mind yet.

I guess so, I was probably just exaggerating it and it's been a long time since I tried reading Fragments. I just found it very off putting with how it would jump between battles that it didn't feel impactful and how when they first introduce Hassan she was already obsessed with Manaka and it was weird on how creepy it was and how sudden, with no explanation. That's just what I experienced, If I try to read it again I could get another impression

I honestly don't think even Fragments or Labyrinth is as bad as Septem, which is an amazing feat all thing considered
I will admit i had issues going through summaries / tls of Fragments but its totally better than Apo. Servant lineup is godlike, execution seems decent, no one really gets left out. Masters are weaker part but they are still better handled than Apo masters. Anime really makes me think Apo is kinda garbage.

Though really, "Jackie" 's whole design and characterisation* seem like a waste to me. I much prefer "Strange Fake" 's Jack the Ripper.
* Well, the basic idea of what she is is actually pretty neat. I just found the execution lacking.
I was confused by that line because Fran technically did confront Shakespeare.
