Maybe Zelretch is fine with the FGO timeline going to shit, ever considered that

    - - - Updated - - -

If you really want a rationalisation as to why he wouldn't get involved, look at the single scene where we see him observe worlds using the Second. Meddling directly runs the risk of confirming a timeline according to Nasu's creative interpretation of the observer effect, while FGO seems to be resolving itself just fine through (your) heroic actions.

So why he appeared so casually at the end of HF while Nasu still talks about the three routes still being possibilities? Wouldn't that mean it is possible to get involved and there is actually no risk there?

I think the best use of your rationalisation is that he already did his thing and whatever happens now is what he decided.

  3. #145983
Because it was 2004, the Moon Cell wasn't a thing, the concept of timelines wasn't developed into what it is now, and Nasu doesn't actually plan everything 15 years ahead of time.

You can’t observe a lion from inside its colon, you do that from outside the lion. Likewise maybe you don’t have time to observe the lion when the zoo is on fire.

By mooncell you're refering to the Quantum Observer theory and all that paraphernalia on extella, right?

I think this quote from CM3 at least gives the idea that he actually was already working on it.
"They're parallel... sort of. But if Zelretch was observing, it'd become true, and my feelings on the matter is that I'd rather two routes disappear if one was true. If all of these became possible at the same time, the other routes would become meaningless."

That would be indeed a good argument in favor of the Lostbelt situation, as there is indeed something there that create such effect. Dunno if it would apply to part 1 though.

I was gonna say, Zel was involved in the making of the grail so therefor he saved the day via butterfly effect, but idk how that would fit the FGO timeline with its brand new fuyuki grail that was only ever used 10 years ago (if thats even true and not a cover up)

I think he just watched the three families do it, from what I read. Which is the most probable thing he is doing as... he does that all the time in every scenario.

Well, the biggest help he gave in the end shall be this at least

That explains why they were first found sleeping in the hallway instead of entering from the front door like the normal people.

He saw Chaldea wouldn’t be able to get past the wiverns and sent and sent the ideal expert.

And this is like one of the most reasonable explanations considering SF and the rest of what we know.

Alternatively maybe he considers F/GO a mistake.

Or maybe it's a path already set for destruction.

Not really, Sitonai comments Freyja wouldn't tell her if they were from the Age of Gods or the Common Era (BC vs. AC). They left it ambiguous

If they're both contempories to Attila then wouldn't they logically be from the Fifth Century?
