Furthermore, Gilly and Merlin even speculate it later on, and while they admit it's not incredibly likely, that name is still not one to be taken on lightly by anyone.

So Gramps is either posing as him, or there's much more going on to him than he's telling.

It's kinda moot either way because while a greater mystery will overtake a lesser one, that's not really what determines "power". Like, a divine beast will probably have more mystery to it than Gilgamesh as well but it's not gonna stand a chance against him in a lot of cases.
