The context of what I and Dullahan responded with, and what was most likely the underlying context of Random's question, is that metaphor from KnK. The fact that they asked for the sake of finding some bigger picture connection to the literal concepts of flying and floating are tangential, since the actual context doesn't deal with the literal concepts.
