Not really. It's on the level of true magic because it can shut out true magic, but that doesn't mean it's better than any of the others.

Yo', here's a new fan of Type-Moon coming and asking for some helpful info about the story he just finished. I watched Fate/Zero, decided to read Fate/Stay Night, and was then left with some unanswered questions. If someone was kind enough to provide answers, I would be thankful (:
So, I just finished the Heaven Feel's route in Fate/Stay Night, and was little confused about this Saber Alter -case. What I gathered from her short comments and evil actions, she was corrupted because of Angra Mainyu - but I would like to know exactly what happened, was Saber just forced to serve Sakura, or were her actions result of her inner darkness came forth because of corruption? It would be interesting to know as whole how that corruption -thingy worked, and were there some kind of changes in addition of cool black smoke effects and magical girl transformation to gothic style.
And then, the sequal of Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Before I try that, I would like to know what should I expect;

About Blackening Servants.
Blackening of Servants
The black mud in the Holy Grail contaminates the souls of those who touch it. It goes without saying for mere humans, and supernatural beings like Servants are no exception to this either. The contaminated person's personality reverses toward the orientation of evil. This is madness caused by touching Angra Mainyu. This is called "blackening". There are those who can use the black mud as part of their own power thanks to the properties of its contamination and those whose powerful egos have stayed back its mental pollution.
An example of the former is Matou Sakura and the latter is Gilgamesh. The blackened Servant is incarnated by the power of the Grail so the more concrete ties to the physical plane turns them into powerful beings.
Their physical interference power increases but at the same time they lose the ability to return to spirit form.
Also, as they no longer bother to restrain their magic energy consumption, their fighting ability jumps significantly. This momentum can be compared to a runaway train.
Because they are in that state, fine control is not possible, but in exchange, their destructive power increases.
They are fearful beings inflicting havoc and death upon the world. These are blackened Servants.
Saber Alternative
Altria after being defeated by Hasan in the HF route and absorbed and incarnated by the black shadow is called Saber Alternative or Black Saber. Dark Saber receives an enormous amount of magic energy from blackened Sakura, and for that very reason, she can shoot Excalibur without limit (whether this means fire it unlimited times or something else, can't be sure). Because of that, she can overwhelm Hercules, who became a Berserker, even in a head-on fight. Losing her limitations and gaining in one way more power than she had when she was alive, she is probably, without dispute, the strongest Servant.

In Fate Zero the blackening is attributed to her obsession to obtain the Holy Grail, so blaming Angra Mainyu entirely isn't cool. Just putting that out there.

But she didn't have any contact with it if I recall. At least not to the extent we see in HF, so I don't think you're quite right.
There is a difference between all consuming rage and blackening.
I think that would be hard to speculate. Maybe if you had fewer regrets, or were completely sure of yourself, who knows.

I think he hints at the end of Fate Zero of being disillusioned with his dream. Also no huge ego, nor is he a Reverse Heroic Spirit like Archer and Assassin.
