I thought the Grail's taint wasn't so much Avenger's force as a Servant as the unforeseeable wrinkle that he was a walking wish for All The Evils In The World that the Grail picked up on?
Like, if it'd been the real AM then he'd've died, gone to the Grail and nothing would've happened because it's just another Servant, but since the Servant came with a wish attached when the Servant died the wish went straight to the core of the system and everything went sideways.
And really nobody could've expected that so I can't really say it's the Einzbern's fault per se.
It's either that, or the fact that when Servants return to the Grail they do so as raw energy with the personality stripped away, but Angra Mainyu is evil even without a personality. Nasu couldn't really make up his mind, since both explanations tickled the extra bone he has that stores bullshit in just the right way.
Avenger was jsut a powerless fake designated to bear the wish of beeing the real thing, the Grail granted the wish and made him into the real thing, which subsequentially tainted the grail.
I don't think the system cares about whether it's a Servant or a magus that does the wishing.
And technically it wasn't Avenger's wish, it was the village's wish that was piled on Avenger via those markings on his skin.
"Yep, that's pretty much it. You know, sometimes you're able to get at the heart of the matter from the oddest of places... Like you said, even if you get to the Root with the same route, the same method, if you're not first, you won't reach magic. However good you are, if you're not number one, you're out."
Really quick question: What does FSN Rider say when she is first summoned? The standard "I am Servant X. I ask of you: are you my master?" thing?

I don't believe it's ever mentioned.
Wonderful. I believe that Zouken was using a catalyst to summon her, though. Is that right? Otherwise I don't see why there'd be a mention of what it was on the Type-Moon wiki.
The Mirror of Kisibis I think it was called. Although feel free to correct me.
I believe that's right, yes.
Difference between making gold by alchemy and digging up gold?
Isn't the newly born AM and the Servants vessels the only thing attributed with being an embodiment of the Third? Not the actual Third, but a byproduct of it as materialized souls?
Most likely some time prior to the game, since iirc, Kirei tells Rin the order of Servants summoned on the third day:
We know Herc was summoned about a month prior, dunno about Caster, I love how vague he was about Rider though, but likely not long, considering that interlude in HF had Sakura still going through the motions of deciding what to do when she found out about Shirou's mark of the chosen, which was on the 2nd day."…Hmm. Berserker was first. Caster was second. The rest are pretty much the same. Archer was yesterday, and Saber was summoned a few hours ago."
"Fate/stay night: not really an eroge, and not really a cooking sim, but actually an RPG wherein everyone’s primary stat is “self-loathing” and the goal is to level it up beyond all the other characters."
Yeah, that figures.
Given that Caster was summoned by an Association Magus, IIRC, I would imagine he was some time before. We know Herc was summoned about a month prior, dunno about Caster
Yeah, I doubt Sakura has had Rider all that long before she hands her over to Shinji, and I don't think she does that much before the 2nd day. It's not clear, though, and I recall the game being somewhat inconsistent on exactly when she does it.I love how vague he was about Rider though, but likely not long, considering that interlude in HF had Sakura still going through the motions of deciding what to do when she found out about Shirou's mark of the chosen, which was on the 2nd day.
