I also wonder how a Nine Lives fist version (or kick version) would look like.

So uh, a day late or so for the Avalon discussion, but I thought I'd posit something. Does acting in defense of Saber (i.e. as her sheathe) put Shirou more in line with Avalon, and thus receive it's benefits more? Because you have the whole flag in UBW where if you don't pull Saber away from Caladbolg, you don't activate Avalon and Rin has to heal you later on. Also, Shirou getting healing from it during the Archer fight is after Saber repeatedly stresses that even if Rin has her contract, Shirou is still her master. Just seems like a conceptual level upon which Avalon might line up with it's user.
I think it might be because he had Avalon for more than a decade.
Could be wrong tho.
I think it might be because Nasu let it be an issue when it was dramatically appropriate to do so.
Localizationing stuff
actually, I have a pet theory that avalon works better the physically closer Saber gets to shirou. The scene you mentioned aside, there is actually an interesting event that supports the hypothesis. In the fate route, when Rider kicks shirou out the window, if shirou doesnt use the command spell he will hit the ground and die. However, there is actually another event where shirou summons saber, but because he hesitates, Saber is not able to catch him, and he hits the ground again. However, in that scenario, he quickly recovers. Its not unreasonable to think then, that saber's shear proximity improved avalon's regeneration.
I'm not sure it qualifies as a "pet theory" at this point."Sab… er
"
Controlling my ragged breath, I call her name.
…Even though I can't see her, I can tell she's nearby.
The pain is subsiding.
I don't know if it's because she's near me, but the wound is starting to heal up.
"Saber… this is…?"
"Yes. Even the curse of the Gae Bolg will not be effective against you now. It shall heal completely if you stay by my side.
@pet theory; Yeah, I was under the impression that was a generally accepted fact
I've got a question.
Let's say Shirou forgot about the weapons that he has seen before. Can he still trace it somehow? I'm guessing that it might still be stored in UBW, but who knows, it might be memories related too.
Something
...Shirou forgetting a sword? Are we talking about the same Shirou?
UBW can record and recall stuff so I guess it's some sort of memory.
don't quote me on this
hypothetically speaking of course. Amnesia and such.
Something
Was it ever said if he needs a conscious effort to recall a weapon from UBW? The whole "if you can't beat the enemy imagine something that will" is ambiguous. It might be that UBW provides him with the idea of the necessary weapon unconsciously.
The weapons are basically recorded in his soul so there really isn't a way for him to forget them. I don't think he consciously remembers all the information that structural grasping give him, he just lets UBW do it.
