1) For the first few days, Shirou has on his hand faded symbol which wasn't Command Spells yet. Command Spells fully appeared after Saber's summoning. So, was he the only one that had this faded symbol or was there more people choosen by Grail and if shirou wouldn't summon Saber, someone else could become master?
2) Kirei tells Tohsaka by phone that she has only one day for summoning her servant. So is there any kind of time limit? What would happen if Shirou and Tohsaka wouldn't summon any servant in time? Someone could stole her master position or just war would officialy started and Tohsaka could wait even week longer (I know that she could be killed before she'll do that)?
3) Was Shinji aware of Zouken's plan or was he just a normal master fighting to win Grail? What did he knew about Sakura absorbing servants or about Assassin serving Zouken?
4) How much did Zouken know about Shadow and Angra Mainou?

1)No, it wasn't just him- if you read the VN's prologue, he actually notes that Sakura has the same bruise and chalks it down to Shinji being an abusive asshole again. As far as we know, the Grail doesn't do backups- instead, it chooses people that will, for one reason or another, participate in the war of their own will.
2) Every other Servant but Saber (and True Assassin, but Fake Assassin was occupying his spot anyway) had already been summoned. Rin was really running down the clock on summoning hers before the War began.
3) I think you have a few wires crossed here- Zouken was fighting a war "as a normal Master" as well, using his family as proxies in the grand tradition of the Holy Grail War he helped design. While it's hard to say how much Shinji knew about Zouken's plans, "next to nothing" is probably a safe bet.For reference, though, Sakura's condition as the Shadow and Assassin's summoning only take place in Heaven's Feel, and he gets himself murderised trying to rape Sakura about two thirds of the way through the route. That should tell you quite a bit about his knowledge and/or intelligence in using said knowledge.
4) Hard to say. He knew about the Shadow's existence, for sure.
