Uh-oh.
Lol, someone get the kanji, does it actually use the same word "Transcendental Species" as the Arc quote?
Because it came up before and there was a definitive answer before but I didn't pay attention and because it was part of an argument recently:
NLBW scene, where it says Berserker was missing " " amount of his body.
What was the original?
Reason:
It seems from recent discussions that people are throwing around 80%, but from Mirrormoon's translation it says an eighth.
I can't remember if MM messed up or if the person who translated it later messed up, so I'd like to have it again. Should be relatively simple to get considering we know where it is...
こちらが速い。
体の八割を失い、殺されたバーサーカーより俺のトドメの方が速い。
大剣を胸元まで持ち上げ、槍の様に叩き込む。
Definitely a translation messup if it was eighth.
Ok captured. Merci.
It doesn't change anything though.
Sure it does. If it was an eighth that's a significant portion of his body left, as in, NLBW didn't really carve away all that much.
1/8 vs 8/10
It is 80% body lost, and Mirror Moon used "an eighth".
There's really no difference.
EDIT:
OK I just failed to English.
And math.
*blinks*
Oh I didn't even think that food might have thought an eighth meant 8/10.
Shame on him.
Lol.
I didn't translate that part, but now I can sympathize the brain fart, lol.
Shame on you.
Took me long enough, but I've got the first page of Gilgamesh's info section where it goes into his history and stuff. The part at the bottom sohuld be the source of what I quoted earlier.

'Tis not the same thing as Arc.
The "transcendental being" here mostly means "awesome powerful dude amongst his peers" (超越者).
Arc's "transcendental being" literally means "transcendental species", like Dragons and stuff.
Meh, the English terminology is similar enough, so it's still viable for fanwank and injokes.
There are at least conspiracy theories irl that are stranger...

Sure, fanwank is easy. You could say that the only reason that Gilgamesh is a Transcendental Being rather than a Transcendental Species, is that the latter implies that anything else in existence could come close to matching his golden splendor, which is clearly a ridiculous notion. He's in a class of his own.
Well, there you have it. There's not a single existence in the world that can rival him. That means Gil beats everything except Types. Book it, canon.
