You could say that but Fate!Shirou's conviction and MoS!Shirou's conviction are very different.@Keyne
Pretty sure Mind of Steel Shirou is nothing but a huge ball of conviction
Now I'm picturing Shirou going all EVA 01, in the battle against Zeruel, against Archer. Avalon reaches the 400% of synchro with Shirou and Shirou ends eating the Servant Core of Archer thus gaining a Servant Core for himself and getting free of his restrictions as a human.
Spoiler:
Guys, isn't this really easy?
The very next line which unfortunately got out was Kotomine revealing the he had legally changed his named to Emiya Shirou the day before, and then he proceeds to go HERO on everybody and melts their faces off.

What's really happening is that Kotomine is talking to Gil, who's in the next room. That's why he keeps saying "you" will win, and never mentions Shirou by name.

It can't be Kotomine either because he and Kiritsugu are different by his own admission.
But Kiritsugu had that and a servant, not to mention being better prepared, and he still couldn't win outright. I don't see why Shirou should be expected to when he has no servant, no special powers and no real friends.
What servant is he going to find to work with him? What masters are going to listen to him? How is he going to even get near Ilya? None of this makes the slightest bit of sense.
That's the most likely way he could win, yes, and I can certainly see Kotomine doing that. However, if he did it would almost certainly be followed with a backstab, and Kotomine would technically not be lying because, as the last master standing, Shirou would have won the war, just as Kotomine said. Recall that, whilst Kotomine said to Shirou that he would be forced to fight Rin once he realised the true nature of the Grail, he never said anything about Shirou successfully destroying it....
Only in a "Shirou thinks he will" kind of way, if at all. Also, if you're the last master with the last remaining servant, you have won. There is nothing anywhere in MoS which gives any implication whatsoever that Shirou will eventually destroy the Grail, only that he will "win" the war.
Yeah, exactly.
It's not even really a "half truth", either. He just did his usual trick of carefully wording his statement so as to make Shirou think he said something different from what he actually did say.
Yeah, I think that's true, actually.^thought it just said 'there's no need to say the obvious outcome. Emiya Shirou will turn his mind to steel and become a superhero' or something like that. Doesn't say he wins.
MoS Shirou is basically Kiritsugu without the training, planning or servant needed to win.
As important as Kiritsugu's mindset was, it's not the only thing that matters. He spent a hell of a lot of time planning out how to win, and planning things out rationally is not Shirou's strongpoint, not to mention that he lacks the time or the equipment that Kiritsugu had. Being willing to do whatever it takes makes you harder to beat, yes, but it doesn't guarentee you victory.
How?I'm telling you guys he gets some boost we would never dream about, like that arm transplant.
He could, yes, but why would he? Gil has no attachment to Shirou, and has no reason to want to destroy the Grail (he wants to use it). Shirou would probably fare a bit better than Shinji did, true, but in the end Gil has absolutely no reason to follow his orders, and he would not have command spells.
Yeah, I'd be inclined to agree with this.
MoS Shirou lacks the same idealism that the other Shirou's have. He's cynical in the same way as Kiritsugu was, and he no longer thinks in such black and white terms as Fate Shirou did.
Not really. His mind tells him that what he's doing is "right", but in his heart of hearts he knows he's just a cold-blooded murderer and not any kind of "hero".
Jealousy, I think. The top brass of the Association don't have them, and so they don't like magi who do. Plus, they come very much outside standard magecraft (it's something you're just born with, it cannot be inherited or passed on in a crest), and it makes the wielder very powerful, so they see it as a threat to their "order".
No, MoS Shirou killed an innocent girl who he also loved for some bastardised form of his ideal which he doesn't truly accept.
I both agree and disagree with Mike.
If we see MoS Shirou as Emiya Shirou, the boy, then that act was certainly one of 'weakness'. The boy who ran away from the disaster he himself had caused, by delving deep into his ideal, was, in a sense, weak.
If we see MoS Shirou as Emiya Shirou, the hero, then that was the only choice. If you cannot save everyone, then you must choose the option that will save the most lives. The decision does not just involve you; it involves the hundreds of people who are at risk and who could be doomed by his choice. It was, undoubtedly, the hero's path. You must discard one to save a hundred. Literally.

I guess Mike missed my post about how anything can happen so long as Nasu gives it the okay, so if Shirou can win because of an arm transplant which none of us saw coming, if you say otherwise I won't believe you without "I was spoiled", then it is not implausible he uses some Nasuverse mechanic that has been there the whole time and we simply have not witnessed.
I think everyone missed the point of the convictions, which weren't "who's right(er)?" but rather "which one could survive the grail mud". I'm not sure MoS!Shirou could. Then again, at that point he's Kiritsugu, and Kiritsugu could withstand that thing for ten years...
