when it hits Saber it just makes a cute little tiny hole in her heart that kills her instantly so no blood even comes out (?). Meanwhile Lancer gets cut in half by a laser beam or something.

Hmm, actually, minor thought I dunno if has ever come up, I think we can remove Invisible Air as a trump card possibility. Fragerach works against a purpetual trump card, since it did against the Godhand, but Saber had to be tricked into using Excalibur.

There was the Rain of Babylon, too. And a blast from Ea. it's a pretty neat shield.

Also at least somewhat close to Bellerophon (implied) though between the two, I would bet on Bellerophon.

But none of those cut your very fate, can Rho Aius protect against the damage that bypasses your physical defenses?

My guess is, since if its A rank version, that would mean fragerach was implausibly reacting to the auis, which means it hits before the auis activates, so it probably wouldn't matter how powerful a wall auis is.

It cuts your fate of attacking first with conceptual mumbo jumbo, but I'm pretty sure it just cuts the actual person with a laser.

I thought this was a strange hypothetical situation where Archer, like, had the Aias up beforehand and fired a broken phantasm out of his ass or something.

So you are saying he is using Rho Auis while also using a very raw ass? That's new for him.

Yeah, going over the translation and all that, it looks like everything's just geared towards killing you first, not actually guaranteeing Fragarach's hit (though, you know, A-rank Noble Phantasms aren't going to be stopped by a lot).

I think the A-rank is down to quality, in this case, rather than power.

I don't know, why bother specifying the difference in rank between the two different versions? Isn't there something about the Answerer version being powered by the opponents trump card? Plus if the only difference is that it hits first, why not just start the fight with a quick Fragrach and be done with it?

The D-rank attack is just some projectile. Not very special.
The A-rank attack is the perfect counterattack complete with time-warping shenanigans. Of course it's gonna get a better rank, even without an ATK buff it has autocrit and bypasses DEF. (Answerer, by definition, hits when the opponent's most vulnerable)

It's like Mirror Coat in Pokemon except cooler and not quite the same.

If you want to wank Fragarach, you got to wank the complete version of Fragarach.

The version that Bazett currently uses appears to be the incomplete one. You have to go for Lugh's original destiny-interfering-blade-of-sure-hit.

Yeah, but when the command spells run out things seem to change somewhat. Otherwise, it would be trivial for a servant to backstab their master, given their reaction time.

In Rider's case, it was Sakura's will that she serve under Shinji in the first place, so she probably was just being loyal.
Well, also, Sakura used a command spell to order Rider to obey and serve him, which would presumably include not killing him....

And, of course, if she killed Shinji, Sakura would be required to fight (which would endanger her), plus she would be upset.

She is, isn't she? I'm sure she says that she gradually refills if she doesn't fight. It's just not very much....

That only applies if Fragarach is used as a counter to Rho Aias. Otherwise, Rho Aias probably should be able to block it, although perhaps only if it was put up before the NP was fired.

Could just be loyalty and self-interest. You have people like Diarmuid and Saber who would never betray their Masters, and if they get summoned they usually have some wish of their own (or desire) to fulfill so they aren't going to just cut themselves loose Masterwise.

But overall Servants are just pretty dangerous.
He never sleeps. He never dies.

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.

The first is if Fragarach is fired to counter Aias. The second is if Aias is used to counter Fragarach.
