The Adventure of the Velvet Room (Sherlock Holmes/Persona) (SB, FFN, AO3)
Blog with all of my Servants so far.
BTW, You and other TLers, is the below TL correct?
Previously, this was rendered to translation as:Clock Tower 2015 - Chapter 2 said:魔術には老化の遅延や一時的な若返りもある。
が、それもせいぜい百年が平均限度だ。
魔術師とて寿命には逆らえない。
In magecraft, there existed also [means to] the delay of aging and temporary rejuvenation.
However, these would likewise hold on average a limit of a hundred years at best.
To magi, lifespan could not be defied.
せいぜい百年 (seizei hyakunen) = "at most a hundred years"Magecraft did indeed offer methods that slowed ageing or temporarily restored youth.
However, through these methods, one could only on average extend life to the orders of centuries. Even magi could not escape death.
I'm not exactly certain how this became "extend life to the orders of centuries."
The definition of せいぜい isn't really all that obscure ... ?
That's 8th century BC though
7th century BC is 700-601. Not a very noteworthy century

Which I guess means we're not seeing it in FGO
There's nothing noteworthy from Britain in the 7th century apparently, and the only mention of America in Wikipedia is the occupation of Piedras Negras by Mayans.
Though, I suppose saying Rome was founded in the 7th Century might be right.

Well, tbh it could also be a completely Nasu-original event like Sefar's that Nasu decided happened in South America rather than be related to any IRL historical/mythological event, hence why LB7 is literally the last possible chance to seeing it in FGO. At least still he confirms or not if it is Jimmu's reign
Was the Minotaur in LB1 a summoned PHH Servant, or someone the Crypters brought to Russia from LB5?
Perhaps its the lust for blood.
Magi are supposed to completely dedicate themselves to the goal of "reaching the Root" but this might impossible if you are a Dead Apostle with its physiological inclinations.
It also might be the reason why Zouken isn't considered one, while Primate Murder is (as he learned blood drinking from Altrouge). Not sure about Nrvnqsr though.

I'm more concerned about Ahura Mazda = Vairocana = Amaterasu that SMT did lol.
Thanks for wording it better.
I think the most comparable examples of long-lived humans are Araya and Zouken? Both managed to live around 300 years within their own means without the apparent effects of the deteriorating body and mind setting in yet. Human mortality doesn't seem like something easily cheated out of without heavy recompense."…That's your own fault. A human body cannot endure a hundred years of life. Compensation is needed if you want to surpass that. If it's painful, you can be at ease if you die."
Since vampires are former humans who have rejected humanity on a fundamental level I suppose it makes sense ideologically that those in the pursuit of immortality have their bodies become closer to solitary creatures better suited in acquiring life of others in their own self-preservation.

That said, isn't being long-lived somewhat easy (or at least not uncommon) for magi? Isn't the Clock Tower's headmaster something like 1000 years old?
2000 and said to not really count as human anymore , so probably should be discluded.
Could be that Dead Apostle-ism is just inherent in the human soul, triggered eithet by magecraft or True Ancestor bites which specifically were mentioned to make DAs cuz their bite curses the targets soul, maybe bringing DA-ism to the surface.
Maybe Humans are Gaia's first failed attempt at a ultimate one and the vampire tendency of subservience to its master is a leftover from Gaia's attempt at controling life.
The blood drinking to repair its genes could be refering to the 'soul genes' Zouken uses to shape himself. At which point you can bulshit that virgins are better cuz pure genes cuz Soul->life force=od->sex=manatransfer->degraded Soul genes.
Could be Zouken is not a DA cuz he doesnt eat souls to restore his soul gene blueprint.
But at the end it comes down to the probability that Zoukens life extension is shitty cuz it was never the goal and then it was to late to fix it, or a smidge of his original goal kept him from the final step.
Nasu was asked the Q&A question about Zouken in HF 2's booklet so it would be bad form to spoil HF3s Zouken wanted to save the world so his immortality is shitty cuz its not the point.
