Gundam: My first Gundam. I'm confused, but entertained. Cute girls; bless Take.
First Eps Conclusion (Part Final)
Too Perfect Saint: Damn this woman, how dear she feed us and treat our illnesses! Let's kick her out our country, surly this won't crater our economy! Or piss off the one other person we rely on who adores her!
A Love too Captivating: Wow, nothing. It's the exact same yankee/good boy yaoi story that happens 80% of the time. Only this time its in 10 min chunks.
Shiunji Family Children: So its Qunitessemtial Quintuplets + Incest? Technically not incest, but in in all intents and purposes incest.
Uchuujin MuuMuu: Ohhhh it's one of those "this is how tech works" shows, probably funded by an appliance division.
Ninja and Assassin: 3:4? Hanna Barbara animation? Now I'm intrigued. See a dead ninja? Kick it in the ribs. Okay this one is really funny. Why's ther so much animation in this gag show?! Like that leaf section alone was gorgeous. No seriously, what the hell? Is this another Bocchi where a studio got a liscense for some 4-koma and just went off on it? Oh wait it's SHAFT. WTF? There's not a single head tilt anywhere? Ok, so the it's a bunch of the Monogatari team working under the Fate/Extra director. Oh he also did Zetsubo Sensei. That makes a lot of sense actually. Definitely keeping this one.
Moonrise: All 12 episodes? Is this a netflix drop? I saw Hiromu Arakawa's name and the next scene is a pair of maimed Not-Elric children dragging each other through a burning facility. I guess the director couldn't resist the temptation. Oh this is just Gundam. Sieg Moon, I guess. Oh yeah, theres the netflix logo and the 2 minutes of every possible translation credits. Not a abd start though. Maybe I'll watch an epside each week and see how it plays out.
Vigilantes: Wait is it just called Illegals in japanese? Got to say, the OP is pretty great. I cringed quite a few tiems, but overall it was alright.
Apocolypse Hotel: Cygames Presents: Hyper Covid! This one got me a few times so it's far above a bunch of thigs this season. evrything falling apart because of a missing bathing cap was excellent.
4/8 for the day and the end of the marathon. Still have that PA Works show that starts this weekend, but the big batch is done. 19/29 for the season, time to start getting rid of the dead weight next week.

Next episode will help with that, it's all the backstory. It goes really hard into references to the OG series, but apparently it's pretty straightfoward according to my friend who watched the movie preview with me. All you lose out from skipping OG is some deeper character motivations and some of those alt-timeline nods, like a certain person being alive or piloting a certain suit.

I actually enjoyed Gorilla god's go to girl because everything about it reminds me of a shoujo anime from at least 15 years ago, so the fact that the novel was made in 2020 is kind of hilarious. What I don't enjoy is the main love interest, not because he did anything wrong but because he's the most plain bland unseasoned platonic ideal of a generic boy ever, so the protagonist constantly gushing over how beautiful he is when the other boys look better than him is ruining my suspension of disbelief
Speaking of Gundam, I ended up watching the compilation movies of the original show after seeing the first episode of GQux. I'm sure those miss out on some character moments because of the cut runtime, but I don't have it in me to binge a 40-episode series right now. Still enjoyed it, and I would imagine that even doing that much is more than what's really needed to understand GQux.
It's probably enough but also a major returning character in GQX is one who was completely cut from the films...which is honestly kinda hilarious, feels like the GQX staff has a clear stance on which version of 0079 is preferable lol. Contextualizing later works aside though, 0079 is just great, really deserves its classic status.

Still who has time to watch 43 episodes?

A 4-cour Showa mech anime now and again is good for your health.

Also you can absolutely tell the character designs were by the FMA lady when the characters start doing exaggerated anime expressions when angry. It's very Ed. Likewise I had to laugh at the MC losing his arm as a kid.
Ranger Reject: I'm worried about the pacing since they spent half of the episode on anime-original material. At least it was good material. The new OP and ED are cool.
Shoushimin: Tokiko's really trying to connect with Jogoro and he's just not giving it back. I see you running from intimacy by changing the subject there, buddy. Hiya is clearly the arsonist. Kengo's a good dude.
Witch Watch: Nico's really cute. It's nice how she and Moi fit right into the class. LMAO at the DBZ students and the fish school.
Lazarus: great first episode, really sets a mood and gives you an idea of how those characters will bounce off each other. My partner called it a mix between Cowboy Bebop and the second half of Steins;Gate. The fact watching it legally is genuinely impossible here threw me for a loop, to say nothing of not finding a dl of it.
Witch Watch: gave it a try, is good fun. Nico is a certified grade A dumbass. I'm waiting to see if the various background characters will end up being Saiki/Sakamoto level of crazy or if it'll stay focused on Nico/Moi.

Put Them On episode 2 was legit hilarious. The overt horniness just made it even funnier.
Your Forma on the other hand was really weak. The culprit was some random person, and there's really almost no energy in the cast. I'll give it one more episode, but I don't really see it turning around.
Holy Shit Lady Rock's OP goes hard.
Sword of Demon Hunter's prologue had me intrigued, but episodes 2&3 have sold me on it. It's just such an interesting ambience to it. Like a photo negative of Demon Slayer.
New PA Works show is solid. Nice sight gags like the menacing Omlette aura and the dead eyed part time work stare. It's Like if Bocchi was a foodie instead of a musician. Less crazy art direction too.
Dropped Boy-Girl Freindship and Witches Death. Both had second episodes that I just couldn't engage with. It's kind of a shame for B-G, since I actually like the characters, the plot is just not hitting for me.

Just watched a DMC "anime" (if you even can call it that way) and it actually hurt me not only morally, but physically.
After that, I started watching Apothecary Diaries (first season) and it feels like I am blessed by a higher power just so I can recover from a soulwrenching torture that the DMC show was.
Another one gets Maomaopilled.

Damn, someone slipped the net last year. We've got to up our meme's until we hit total internet saturation.

Finally got around to watching Gundam GquX:
While this first episode definitely feels a bit sloppy in places due to its pacing, I did really enjoy it.
Really like the art direction and backgrounds here, they're a real vibe. While I am also not a huge fan of all the MS designs so far, I do appreciate the 'slapped together' aesthetic of the civilian bots.
Amate is great so far. IMO she's really daring and bold without coming off as a complete psychopath with the wild shit she pulls off. It's funny comparing her to Suletta in that she seems to be the one wearing the pants in her lesbian relationship.
I am intrigued about the thought process of slapping the whole 'clan battle' aspect onto the first 'what-if UC' series of the franchise (or maybe it was the other way around, tbf). How those two parts mesh together is gonna be the biggest question mark going forward, I feel.
All in all though, I am certainly excited for more.
I watched the first 2 episodes of Princession Orchestra because some people who worked on Symphogear are on this and it's apparently a spiritual successor of the latter.
And you can feel the Symphogear origin from it, from the vibe of the songs to entire story beats and they even got extremely new VA's for the three main characters which is cool getting some big roles for experience is always good but sadly it also results in the songs not being being good or memorable, but hey one of the charms of Symphogear was seeing Aoi Yuuki's journey of getting better at singing unfold so I hope that magic also happens here.
Sadly the episodes where pretty boring and at no point did I feel any tension and the only thing going through my mind was stuff like: "hey that's just like what happened in episode one from Symphogear but without spice".
But at least I don't see any signs of fan service in this which is good and I hope this continues but overall I would say that anyone who watched Princession Orchestra but they didn't quite vibe with should check out Symphogear.
Princession is Symphogear + Precure. For the Precure audience. They even sell toys and such as merch. And it's 4 cours like a proper Precure show. What this means, is of course you won't see fanservice when they want little girls in elementary school watching this. The lack of tension is also part of the "MoTW for kids" format in the intro stages that are more about showing off the heroines and introducing the conflict. But in general any tension is reserved for fights against the generals themselves and the final villain or some strong monster that requires debuting a combined finisher or the extra mid-story member. Most of the epiodes will be fights with no tension to them as the general of the week unleashes a monster, the monster gets beaten and the general leaves.
Besides that
Moonrise
I enjoyed it a lot. Art and animation is great, and I love the plot and characters. Some nice conflicts here. The setting was also interesting. I like it
