...I can now add Hon Rou Tou to my list of memorized yaku.

(mostly because I realized it's more or less the exact opposite of a hand I already knew, Tan Yao.) ^_^;

EDIT: Thinking on it, it's less so that I don't know the hands (though there are ones I fail at remembering) and moreso that I tend to forget the names attached to said hands.

Like Ii Pei Kou. I knew what tiles were generally needed for it (two of the exact same sequence. 2-3-4/2-3-4 pin, etc). But never really kept track of the name. Until now. >>;

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot here, but the crap 1/9-mans are ones I tend to pitch if I have nothing else I think is safe. (assuming it's not obvious that the opponent needs either of them.)

Not too often do I see a valid hand with them in it. Might just be me, though.

it could have been 800 only. it was one of those that i knew the tile was coming, but there was nothing i could do to improve my hand other than riichi. =.=;
