I have an idea that Illya's want or maybe need for true companionship caused her to turn off Beserker's Mad Enhancement and make friends with her Servant. How different would the Grail War be if the rest of the competitors had to fight a sane Hercules with access to his Noble Phantasms. And how would his sane attitude effect Illya.

I thought you can't "turn it off" as you're screwed once its active. That's how I understand it, as no one has ever "turned it off" that I remember. Else Berserkers would be able to speak and stuffs while not in combat, as opposed to in combat where the stat enhancements are needed.

If we're disregarding that, then it's still neat. I just don't know how it['d work.

I don't think you can turn Mad Enhancement off, I mean yes, you cast Mad Enhancement on the aria you use to summon a servant but I haven't see anything anywhere that says it can be removed. So unless I'm missing something here this is implausible (as much as I would like to see some friendly Herc x Ilya fluff)

This is an idea to fanfic Melty Blood and goes after MBAACC. Shiki Nanaya and White Len are the main characters. Does TATARI returned to action in Misaki again, even with the death of Dust of Osiris, or will new and mysterious individuals appeared, and older fighters brought the TATARI...

Wasn't it just that in both cases that we saw of Berserker, either the Master didn't want to turn it off (Illya), or the Servant refused to because he wished to remain insane(Lancelot)?
I don't think there are any limitations on turning off Mad Enhancement. I asked about that in the question thread once, and that's the conclusion we came to.

Also, to expand on this, you do realize you can do the Tsukihime Near/Far Side thing and just leave Shirou completely out of the war by simply never having him see Archer and Lancer duking it out right, I know there's a few problems with this (namely the Saber summoning and Archer coming after Shirou) it would be completely AU with a sprinkle of OCC and I personally prefer the idea IRUn has here, but this remains a possibility for the Ayako route and one that merits some exploration.

A Fate/Stay Night version of the Far Side idea. Finally, some originality. Fresh originality right out of the Gate of Babylon.

Mad Enhancement is off by default. It can be turned on either by Master or Servant without the other's consent (so far as we can tell). Turning ME off seems less likely, because then you'd probably not have all the Masters of Berserkers dying via prana drain. Perhaps they were ignorant or stupid, though.

Well, if he were sane, I suspect he'd point out to Ilya that, actually, killing this "Shirou" kid wasn't such a great idea after all....

I think you can, honestly, although it most likely requires a command spell. And, we've only ever seen two Berserkers, one of whom had a master who wouldn't even think of doing that, and the other who didn't want to do it, so that doesn't prove a lot.

There are a ton of things that will mess that up including the fact that he still has people he is involved in who are a part of it.
And if you are truly making Ayako the girl-next-door, no freakish bloodline she never knew, or magical trait. Go "cold turkey they are going into the War headfirst, so buckle up gentlemen". If he has no Saber, Avalon is going to be much less effective, and the Bloodfort ought to knock him out if it's activated, which almost certainly means a Bad End, and, if we are going for virgin mission here, no asspulls that can prevent that.

Sorta defeats the purpose of Berserker NOT to have Mad Enhancement for the most part. Rin said it was mainly for spirits with weaker base stats to get a boost. Think the Viking of Stamford Bridge for a good example. We don't know his actual name, but his achievements have been recorded in history for how fucking outrageously he fought. As such, his stats would likely be lower than a true heroic spirit. Boost his base stats up, and suddenly you have a Servant that one on one can likely devastate everything he faces.

Berserker is always about Power at a Price. A good Berserker can rip and tear through Saber and Lancer, and then promptly kill his Master from Prana drain.
Its a question of how many of them can we make die.
