Yumizuru did say that he's still working on it back in June though on his twitter, but the problem of it not having a publisher is still there since his apparent falling out with MF. Houkago Battlefield was received with monkeys throwing their shit at it.
And the Infinite Stratos reboot is now under publication of Overlap Bunko. The illustrator is being switched out though. Volume 8 is planned for the end of April and Overlap is gonna print the previous 7 books with new illustrations.

Not sure if it classifies as "light" novel, but it's pretty damn light.
And of course it's just one of the many good ones by this author, but this one I particularly remembered best of them all.
Read Heavy Object and I loved it, though I think the 5th volume protagonist should be older
Tried reading Campione and it kind of sucks. The fights are cool with all the spell words for the sword and whatnot but it's otherwise generic harem shit.

Unless I missed something, it's just artwork change for the light novel. It's not like the animu followed the old novel design faithfully anyway. Whether there will be a second season or not depends more on the DVD sales of the first.

The 'rewrite' is just because they are changing artists and publishers. (I heard he had an argument with his first one.) The changes will probably be minimal.
It's not a rewrite; volume 8 is starting off from where volume 7 left off. Volumes 01-07 are gonna be the same thing text-wise; they just need to be reprinted with updated illustrations. Also, volume 08 is going to have a limited edition with a DVD featuring the VAs, and they're doing this whole special thing to celebrate the reboot with the anime's voice cast.
