Mah, opinions. To me, characters development is equally important for everyone that has it. I'm not judging it by how much one has CD, but if it has it or not.
Anyway, my point is... 6th HGW writers, the point of FSN (and of a HGW) isn't 7 servants slaughtering each other, but how 7 heroes from all across the globe and their human masters interacts... servant/servant, servant/master, master/master.
Something that minorly annoys me, but technically makes sense:
Fics getting mostly ignored because they don't star the characters we all know and love. Frankly, I don't want to write canon characters partly because we know them. If I ever did write a canon character, it would probably involve alternate character interpretation, which is part of why I enjoy Gilgamesh so much. We know Rin and how she works, and the same goes for Shirou and almost everyone else. It's a lot of rehashing, really, and so making OCs, in different settings even, (though I have no personal problem with Fuyuki) can be very refreshing and enjoyable yet people ignore them on premise, because they have OCs.
Really, the draw of seeing existing characters do stuff shouldn't be so great. People should check out OC heavy fics *cough* and give them a go, keeping at bay the old prejudices of Sues and whatnot.
<NEW FIC!> Revolution #9: Somewhere out there, there's a universe in which your mistakes and failures never happened, and all you wished for is true. How hard would you fight to make that real?

[12:40] Lace: lucina is amazing
[12:40] Neir: lucina is pretty much flawless

It's a matter of interest.
Whilst I would read a fic based around OCs if it were really good, I would just as soon read a story that had no connection to the Nasuverse at all, because what I find interesting, mainly, are the characters. The only expection to that is if the OCs in question have a clear connection to the canon characters, or the setting itself does.
Same here, I think. Which is why I find it hard to take interest where only the setting or premise is taken since the other half would feel alien to me. Unless it's a crossover of course. While I know such set-ups allow one new perspectives, at the same time it's not my motivation to read fanfiction.
When authors hear 'alchemy' and instantly go 'FMA!' and then 'InsertCharacterHere' starts clapping his/her hands.
Despite me recently knowing why they do so and empathizing with them somewhat...lack of information can be a real idea-killer.
Type-MOON needz moar alchemy.
My Fanfics. Read 'em. Or not.McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.
Indeed, as an author writing a story where Shirou is an alchemist (admittedly a side-effect of an earlier decision) I would love that.
Shirou couldn't be an alchemist, they don't have circuits.

I love FMA too, just if it isn't a crossover please keep it out of my FSN.
^He was raised by Iri, she used alchemy. Please don't disassemble the premise of my Astolfo fic. It's crack.
