Try adding ligher colors for the shading/gradient on the bangs. Especially for light colored hair and skin, try to minimize using black and only as an accent when necessary or where they don't get too close together and numerous. You could try using very dark yellow-brown along with black as an outline. The black pixels clutter the left side where her ear is. Other then that that's a pretty good sprite.
Aye, thanks for the comments lesliep.
On another note, Apple finally decides to get started with adobe illustrator!
A series (hopefully not a terribly abysmal one)
Been vectoring in photoshop up till now but I've never touched illustrator, so I'm a noob with this program(naturally). This will likely sum up personal thoughts, comments, frustrations and progress (haha yeah right).
Here's a brief vector drawing. I realized I had no idea how to color it efficiently though... Usually photoshop/flash automatically prevents the fill from overstepping the boundaries of an existing vector for the lineart below (well, photoshop lets you lock fills and flash doesn't fill outside of lines).
I'd like to say that Illustrator handles vectors weird- well, coming from a photoshop and flash user's standpoint anyway. There are similarities between the programs but it's easy to get mixed up. It's like swapping between a PS3 and a 360. (why can't everyone stick to similar commands?!)
Also overly straight feathers I'm sorry I was lazy and just doing a test run don't kill me ):
So, testing one method of shading.
Does Illustrator failsave noobs like flash did to me?
... nope. ):
Oh well. I'll probably look it up on Youtube. And how to increase/decrease line size too.
No idea how to save it in an uploadable format either, so I just printscreened it.
More of this coming, maybe... if you guys want... or care. Till next time.
Does Illustrator have nodes? I use inkscape for vectors because I like it so I have no clue what goes on in illustrator.

Nodes? Are those the things that Photoshop calls anchor points?
Yeah, they're there. Handle pretty similarly to PS and flash.
Then you should be able to copy and paste objects, create nodes around the object you want to overlap (in this case the dark red one) and then delete the rest. That usually prevents overlaps. Otherwise, you could always take the outline of the entire wing and create a clip over the shading.

Problem is, there is no dedicated fill tool (at least, i can't find it) so even f i paste another vector and color it flash style it doesn't really work. :/
I don't see how it wouldn't. Here:
lots of pix

But ruru, that's inkscape. No idea if illustrator is the same. Also, I am a mere grasshopper in the world of vector proz. I don't even know what clipping masks are. X.X
I guess a google search is in order.
They should be similar enough, though.

STGCC (first day, today)
Went there to take photos of cosplayers, wound up sitting at the Wacom booth half the time I was there. Did Saber first, got greeted by a girl who's a fan of SaberXGil so I drew Gil as well... and then drew Rider for no apparent reason.
