I'm pretty sure that was just an excuse to eat lots of Shirou's (and Sakura's...) lovely home-cooked food, along with general politeness (on both her and Shirou's part). If it had been some horrible crap from a can, I bet Saber would have been a lot less insistant on eating food.
If you have no need to sleep, then why is the lack of any sleeping arrangements such an issue?
Hadn't Shirou suggested it in the first place, she wouldn't have participated in meals.I'm pretty sure that was just an excuse to eat lots of Shirou's (and Sakura's...) lovely home-cooked food, along with general politeness (on both her and Shirou's part). But Saber was asleep. She was watching Shirou in her dreams. She woke up when he entered Avalon. If you have no need to sleep, then why is the lack of any sleeping arrangements such an issue?

Dooh, is it fair to rule out Rin, Mike? She cooked such a lovely Chinese banquet. And in Fate it was pretty much mostly Shirou in charge of the cooking...Yeah, hence the "general politeness" bit. Until he mentioned it, she had no interest, because to her "meals" meant the 6th century equivalent of MREs. Of course, once she tasted Sakura and Shirou's efforts, she was much more enthusiastic about the idea....

True, but she wasn't the first person whose food Saber tasted, in any of the routes. She only arrived later (and, IIRC, she cooked relatively few meals, although Sakura also didn't cook that many for Saber, since she left early on in the first two routes and was ill in HF). Saber's first meal was always cooked by Shirou and Sakura.
