Just looked it up and unless you already changed the HotD canon Rei wasn't Takashi girlfriend, but his childhood friend, she was affectionate towards him, though. While I know we shouldn't trust wikis completely I faintly remember something like that as well, which is why I looked it up in the first place.

Huh, really? Everything I've read seems to imply that she was actually dating him for a time and broke up with him before the story starts.

Actually I faintly remember it wasn't so much as she was dating him as it was a promised when they were children to be with each other. I think that was the mix up in it.

As far as I remember, she only liked him, but Takashi screwed something up or so and she dated Takashi's best friend, until he died, in the first 20 pages in or so, which is why he's sulking and also why his relationship with his friend is iffy.
