call me... senpai
Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back!
[X] Shapeshifting AND what Poppa teaches!
Hey, you’re a genius, Rin is a genius, or something like that. Whatever the case, with so many minds put together, you could learn things much faster, so you decided to learn multiple things at the same time. It’s not like you have to get into the correct mindset or change your character entirely to learn some of these skills, or something… right?
For the most part, Poppa began by giving you ten expertly cut pieces of quartz, and told you not to sculpt them or shape them, but to begin learning how to store energy within. The structure of quartz, under your “expert” eyes, was… well, beautiful. Not for the first time, you marvel at your ability, something you probably had not thought possible to someone like yourself. You are looking into the gems, and actually seeing their molecular structure, their every motion as they lie in the palm of your hands. It’s…
…You shivered, noticing it had gotten late.
You looked down at your little work station. The first two gems you tried to infuse with your prana in a manner that would allow it to hold…
…Well… the first time was the worst, you could say for a fact. The gem had gotten so hot in your hands that you dropped it, only to see it melt into slag before your eyes. Minute sparkles of odic energy pulsed in it. With the structural analysis that you kept using, you saw that you were so abrupt that your prana had begun breaking down the material itself. In the end, you were just surprised nothing exploded in your face or something.
…Actually, something did explode. The second gem exploded into many shards. It was not exactly pleasant, but thankfully it exploded downwards and only chipped a giant chunk out of your table.
Anyway, you hurried up and fixed up what you could. The process of actually putting prana into these quartz gems was a little stinging, but it wasn’t really that painful. All you did was cut a finger and allow a few drops of prana-charged blood to roll out and… You finished quicker than expected and Poppa taught you the theory behind how to heal your cuts, so that if they were small enough and you healed quickly enough, there wouldn’t even be a scar left behind.
Aside from that, he also gave you a short lecture on hypnosis. It turns out that it is a very useful ability to have and know in case mundane people of the town gave you trouble. He also gave you a small booklet on it, but you asked many questions during his lecture, milking as much information out of him as you could. He didn’t have much time to teach you to begin with, but he seemed happy to simply sit with you on his lap and talk… as if he was very stressed by something.
Later, you played around with your shapeshifting ability. You found that you had some problems borrowing the shape of things noticeably larger or smaller than you… like shifting into a tiny mouse or Poppa. The process that you need to prepare for, to borrow the shape of another being or object, was rather long and difficult; you found that while losing concentration did not exactly turn out fatal (thank the heavens for that), but you would need to start over… or your shapeshifting would be… lacking. Yes, that’s it. You tried to shapeshift into Momma once, but stopped before the final stretch…
…and then ended up as a little girl your age, who looked very like a young Momma. That attempt only lasted a few seconds before your shape reverted back, which happens to be another drawback of losing your concentration.
Time rolled by the weeks, and you practiced and learned more and more. Little Rin, due to her own studies or your influence, began to use more complex sentence structures and difficult words, though sometimes she would even speak in other languages, which surprised even Poppa. Your ability to heal only increased marginally; you would need to study healing magecraft in order to further it. Still, you are able to recover from light scrapes and small scratches almost instantly. Through your study with Poppa, your ability with hypnosis and other kinds of mind manipulation also seemed to improve. You could probably take complete control of weak-willed individuals, one at a time, now. However, your skill is not so great that you can do it without a medium. You took to making a small flame above your thumb in order to hypnotize people pretty well…
Your skill with reinforcement and structural analysis also improved to the point where most average magus might take their skill in those subjects to. Although that’s not too much, you’re still skilled enough to feel satisfied.
Your shapeshifting didn’t come too far, but you familiarized yourself with what you could and could not do. At least you know your own abilities!
But now…
…it’s the first day of kindergarten. Momma brought you to the school, and you couldn’t but help feel a little intimidated by all the larger children walking about. Little Rin squashed that feeling quickly and pluckered up. There were noises of children’s voices everywhere around you. It was a little irritating from your more… mature… perspective, but Rin felt only apprehensive. Here, you…:
[ ] Be the Ice Queen and act aloof.
[ ] Be the Sunshine and befriend everyone!
[ ] Be the Outcast and have a few friends?
[ ] Be the Tomboy and play it sporty.
[ ] Be the Delinquent and take over the school!
[ ] Other?
