It's true that magus culture is not a good thing, but some people are so assblasted by its existence they have to invent reasons why it is at the root (heh) of all evil in the Nasuverse, even for unrelated shit.
"Zepia became a DA because magi culture", "the HGW was created because of magi culture", and "FGO DESTROYS magi and the Clocktower with facts and logic". Hot takes so hot you can live through winter with them.
How exactly is "mages do mage research because of mage culture" a hot take? Zepia and Justeaze/Zolgen/Nagato's standard mage projects being the core of a story doesn't make them any less standard mage projects. Though I personally think the same apply to Marisbilly and all other stories are exactly as much of a condemnation of mage culture as FGO is. If any story does it more than the others, it's Case Files.
i am wondering about the origin of this kind of attitude. it has been around for some time, producing a great many hilariously idiotic takes, and also self-insert fanfics on occasion. some instinct tells me that it's a Zero-secondary phenomenon: i.e. people who started with zero and got introduced to mAgI CuLtUrE through the whole sakura business/kayneth etc. that seems logical but i am not certain

Expresses the exceeding size of one's library.
Books are extremely many, loaded on an oxcart the ox will sweat.
At home piled to the ridgepole of the house, from this meaning.

Zepia wanted to save the world from a bad future and Makiri/Einzbern wanted to use the Third to save mankind. The means they used are magus like, true, but the post doesn't define magi culture as that. Otherwise, "unlearn mercy" wouldn't be in the same post where it uses characters who fell into evil because they wanted to selflessly save the world as quintessential "magi bad" examples.
But yeah, Case Files is just plain better than FGO at examining and criticizing mage culture.
"Magi are meanies" is about as critical a stance as that of infants recoiling from the scary bearded uncle, because god forbid characters aren't morally coded in the most unambiguous way possible.
It's Sakuras all the way down.

shit BL says
Once and always and nevermore.
Personally i dislike magi stuff as it feels like a vestige of old edgy nasu that doesnt mesh with current nasu.
Plus at times it feels dick dastardly cartoonish evil
I wish Zouken was hammier tbh. Make him a Palpatine clone.
I dunno, I think Zouken is plenty hammy already. I had a conversation with a friend a while back where I described him as "Emperor Palpatine if Emperor Palpatine was Jeff Goldblum from The Fly".
This reminds me when NA first met Kadoc and the Cypters and they were so butt hurt about some angsty teen that they made "comics" basically fantasizing destroying the crypters with "le trolls and logic".
It was embarrassing

Mages are all over the place. Show me some vampires and vampire hunters. Or just more Arc/Sion/Ries/Aoko.

Current Nasu might as well not matter at this point since he could be replaced tomorrow by any third rate JRPG writer and most FGO players wouldn't bat an eye, as long as they keep making fresh new waifus and husbandos for them tothrow awayspend their money on. The story pretty much writes itself. They could come up with some of the most nonsensical and thematically bankrupt storytelling in the medium and people would still eat it up because that's hardly the focus, due to sunk cost fallacy and the fact it's become so popular that it can easily get away with it.
I can reread 8BT over and over again and never get tired of it
