Huh, so the Tohsaka have their own pool in their mansion, I wonder if it's an underground one?

It's Shirou.

Which Shirou do you guys think is the most conventional heroic? Fate seems like the obvious choice since it has stuff like Shirou defeating his father's archnemesis and accepting his tragic backstory through pluckiness but something about HF seems to do something similar with the added element of Shirou 'saving' even the people he fights by giving peace to Alter, protecting Illya for Herc and letting Kotomine have a last all or nothing brawl with someone that reflects his twisted nature.
Please explain in what way.
Good job he did too when Ilya died saving him.
Yes it was very savior-like how he deliberately set out to crush Kotomine's only dream, proceeded to get his ass kicked, yet Kotomine was denied his victory by random chance.

Ragnarok, come day of wrath
That fallen souls might bear our plea.
To hasten the Divine's return.
O piteous Wanderer.
Wasn't Kirei happy anyway because he found someone broken like himself anyway?
Spoiler:
Well he gave up on the dream born of his guilt and defeated Kirei, though at that point he was less Kerry's archnemesis and more someone that he knew as a person and understood better than Kerry did.
Shirou kept Illya safe from harm until she choose of her own free will to protect her little brother. That wasn't a failure, it was a sacrifice.
And yet Kirei died knowing that he gave it his all, not getting instaganked with an azoth dagger or gae bolg. I'm talking about saving in the sense that the people who got to do something interesting in HF all had some sense of acceptance to their role like what Saber gave Gil in fate or what Rin did for Shinji in UBW. Except in this case it was Shirou giving it to most of them.
"Yeah, this is for hurting me so much. I'm going to mercilessly destroy your wish."
Incredible heroic that Shirou guy
Well, it's heroic in that UBW established that heroes destroy wishes to save others all the time. So, he's like, Archer heroic, which isn't something to be pleased about, no.

They talking about him smiling at the end but I guess that could have just been a "normal" Kirei smile.
Spoiler:
It's specifically noted immediately before that Kotomine won't change even while dying, so of course it's the same as every other smile he has.

Besides people vastly exaggerate how similar Kotomine and Shirou are.

I always took it as "Oh, shit, you just said you'd crush my wishes, how terrible, hahaha it's me on the receiving end, wow irony."

Yeah, the guy whose entire pre-fight speech is a rant about how frustrated he is by life is very accepting of his role.

That's what I saw it as too, same as always except he's laughing at himself this time. He does basically the same thing in Fate.

maybe they'll expand that part on in HF
someone submit it as a nasu question
the biggest secret in FSN of all
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
Can a national personifcation be a servant?
Britannia would be a pretty cool servant, just saying. She has been known since antiquity.
