Nah. Solomon's as final boss as it gets. Dude can even pull off the multiple forms so beloved of RPGs thanks to his demons.

My own take on final boss!Odin (from the sheet I made of him) was that he'd want to cause Ragnarok because he had gotten so unbelievably bored with his own incredible strength and hoped that the new world arising from the ashes of the old would offer something strong enough to pose a decent challenge to him (so basically, Reinhard from Dies Irae). Not too accurate to the mythology I know.

well, like, maybe this family offers parts of their research as a dowry or sorts, since it's the only way they can stay relevant. i guess the point is the family is more concerned with staying relevant politically than actually doing anything with their research.
but, then comes a talented young second child who decides she'd rather make her family great than become a political tool. and then a character in a fan fic was born.

But I think it's an interesting question to consider how political marriages affect mage lineage and crest inheritance. For example, would two family heads ever get married? If so, would they have two children and each one gets one of the crests? Or is it possible to combine two crests into one in a single child (if they'd even be willing to "combine" families this far) ?
I'm sure that this must have happened at least once in Clock Tower history. Somewhere along the line, two family crest bearers must have married for political reasons and faced this dilemma.
if they're an ancient lineage, it should be fine to graft both crests on.
Also crest tuners exist probably for reasons like this.

Crests are just bundles of magic nerves that have better compatibility with same blood, so if families mix I don't see why they wouldn't be able to combine the two Crests.
Better question would be why are two magic family heads marrying each other.
