What a shame, then. Except this is a thread for random Type Moon thoughts, so they're doing nothing wrong.

lol Fate the Scavenger Hunt.
TM's website is pretty oldschool
So I recently discovered one of the greatest things of all time.
That came with the 10th anniversary if i remember correctly. Everyone was disappointed because they expected the actual story but it was just about Saber.
So it seems either Nasu messed up or the bruises on Sakura's hand were not the Mark of the Chosen, and Rider was summoned way earlier than we originally thought.
And in UBW:Originally Posted by Seika's Notes Document

Or, as stated, Nasu fucked up.
Or it's:
Use command spell to make a book of false attendant --> command spell reverts back to mark of the chosen --> book burns up --> command spell returns --> make another book --> repeat
I suppose I'd justify this in-universe as saying the bruise Sakura had wasn't the mark of the chosen, but a left-over byproduct of transferring her Seals to Shinji with the Book of False Commandment a day or two earlier.
Just means Rider was running around longer than expected, and was probably Shinji's when that family got murdered, leaving her open as an option for the murderer, since she'd need to feed on souls to keep energy up if Sakura was not her Master.

Yeah, basically this. I just realised that all the assumptions about Rider being summoned during Day 2 or 3 or whatever was out the window with this information.
Or maybe assasin used up the magical energy faster then expected and reached his limit before the 20 day mark.
"An ideal is only an ideal after all. As long as you embrace that ideal, the friction with reality will continue to increase. So you will someday face reality and will have to pay for your compromises"
I never, ever assumed that because we already knew there were only two slots left before Rin summoned Archer on day one.
Oh yeah, forgot about that.

HF has a scene where it is revealed Sakura decided to give Rider to Shinji because she found out Shirou would be in the war.
So dunno how that would work.
Which would make having that statement in the last minutes of his existence, with no further statement to correct it, entirely pointless.

Yeah, I just recall a big discussion by several people relatively recently about when exactly Rider was summoned, using the bruises as a cornerstone of the debate. So I knew there were at least some people working under the incorrect impression.
