Sakura is so broken that she's not going to be in an entirely "healthy" relationship with anyone. However, being with someone as kind and understanding as Shirou allows her to get past that and gain self-esteem again.
Plus, Shirou has no sense of self either, so the two of them complement each other....

What's funny is that out of the three heroines, the only one who isn't made to realize just how broken and twisted Shirou is is Sakura.
Anyway, I'm still not convinced that the sex was so pure and holy it was the only thing that could convince Sakura Shirou liked her, what with her becoming jealous anytime he hung out with Rin and her calling him the naturally unfaithful type.
Doesn't seem liked it worked all that well.

The point is that Shirou chose to have sex with her, even when he didn't need to.
There might be other ways to demonstrate his love, but him just saying it does not work. Further, the way the Shinji death scene went doesn't make sense without the sex.

Actually, that's the point. It worked very well, but her accepting that Shirou liked her made it possible to break her.Doesn't seem liked it worked all that well.
Just saying if you're going to make sex the focal point of their relationship the moment that's threatened it's probably going to suffer if not outright fall apart.

It's not the "focal point of their relationship", though, it's just the thing which makes Shirou's desire for her more obvious and, thus, increases her self-esteem.
For anybody else but Shirou "The Jackhammer Progidy" Emiya, maybe.

Shinji already increased her self-esteem quite a bit over the years, if you know what I mean.
The let's play doesn't have the unfaithful comment because I think he made the wrong choice but it should be one of the mornings Shirou eats breakfast with Rider in the house.
