I'm not sure Shirou made much of a difference. Shinji was still Shinji, and his inferiority complex would have just been tied to someone else.

Shinji would still be a shitty person, but everybody with a brain would've felt that treating him in a kinda condescending manner would've increased his enormous inferiority complex.

Edit: Shirou isn't to blame, after all human observation was never his specialty, but he could've tried to understand Shinji better.

Only Shinji would have felt condescended by the way Shirou treated him. He feels condescended by SAKURA of all people. His inferiority complex is just that strong.

You're aware this suggests that Sakura's gynic ways are to blame for everything bad he does and Shinji in a vacuum did nothing wrong, right? The important distinction here is that Saionji instantly becomes chill when Anthy is not in the scene, whereas Shinji is a scumbag in all his appearances. The posts above say it all - Shinji has issues that soak into his every action, and it is merely not his fault he's got those issues. Saionji, more simply, just doesn't speak vagina. This makes him look pretty bad in a show that's all about vagina monologues.

Considering how the writers, and sometimes even the characters, constantly jokingly call Archer "mommy" or "housewife", and Shirou himself says shit like "I saw Sakura and I as the same sex, but I didn't see her as a man", maybe we're all supposed to think of Shirou as a woman.

Why do you think he was so mad about Sakura and Rin hanging out with him? He was jealous of them, not Shirou.
