It'd be a stretch, but it could be workable if you took into account how from the 1800's onwards, retellings of Robin Hood tended to have Robin join Richard the Lionheart in the Third Crusade* and so you could have Robin get tangled up with the Hasans.

*This is also the source of why a lot of modern movies through in a random Muslim Merry Man like the ones played by Morgan Freeman or Jamie Foxx - which was parodied in the Mel Brooks movie with Isaac Hayes as Asneeze and Dave Chapelle as his son Ahchoo.

Something about using your son as your personal blood boy is giving magus.

The whole point of magi is preserving a legacy. That's why magic crests exist. So sacrificing your children to preserve your own existence would theoretically be taboo, because you're killing the chance of your family being preserved (not so say that some mages will do it zouken/darius/the dude who summoned gil in SF)

It's the casual sociopathicness that defines mages, but when they do horrible experiments on their children, it's for a reason.

In Case Files, the Iselma sisters want to seek asylum because they decide their father's magical experiments on them are risking the preservation of their magecraft.

A spare is a spare is because you never know what might befall the heir. If you'd prefer to have no spare, to get the spare out of your hair, you may despair when your heir is suddenly no longer there.

Sola's family being like "oh, that's a shame" wrt Kayneth dying while being like "literally whomst?" wrt to Sola dying lives in my head rent free (because it's funny)

I like how the movie at least tried to highlight this by showing her reading ghost stories in the park by herself and going to the pet store to look at fish alone like a big loser.
