The booklets from the Fate/stay Night Museum are finally being distributed. Many people on the Japanese fandom already received their copies and they noticed a very interesting detail on Arcueid's profile.




The use of this particular image for Arcueid's Melty Blood section means that Type-Moon is finally acknowledging Mugen as a canon entry of the Melty Blood series. With that in mind, it's quite possible that we could be seeing a Mugen collab event coming along for FGO. With Mugen's vast roster of characters, which ones you believe are the most likely to be making into the game? I personally would like to have Dark Ronald McDonald as the welfare. He should have some really good with Extra Vlad.

Has Kamone heard of this? That guy goes completely crazy when anybody messes with the sanctity of his game's intended code. It's understandable to not acknowledge ccaster the thing that single-handedly prevents Melty from being a dead game, but the other day somebody was putting Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax characters into UNI, and when Kamone found out, he went on a 40 post rant on his twitter about how he hates everything. How is he going to react to this level of disrespect?

Good. Hopefully they add the Miyako+Rock char to the Melty Blood HD roster. I mean, they've got artwork already. God I feel so old for still remembering this char.

I'd have a hard time feeling dread reading a TM work, considering that the story is almost certainty heading towards a happy or at worst bittersweet ending.

Buf aren't you feeling dread about how nuTM does things, thus making everything it does a constant horror work for you, and desensitizing you to horror thanks to oversaturation of it?

Now, you see, I did include the word 'consciously' in my statement in order to ward off pre-emptively people whose two collective neurons would rub together and make the connection "hurr durr dullahan not like the fgo thing, but fgo is the big thing, thus this is horror yes?" but clearly, given that several have done this, the average reading-comprehension level is no greater than that of the NA localisers.

FGO is not consciously designed to produce 'dread'. It would strain credulity. Consciously - well, we may question the amount of 'consciousness' that goes into its production, as with any assembly-line product, but on the level of overall intention it is designed to produce desire. It is designed to produce the desire for obtaining X, Y, Z [insert your favourite stamps here], the promise of fulfilment which is structurally incapable of being fulfilled.

Despite not being 'consciously' designed to produce dread, we may nonetheless ask - does it produce dread anyway? And again the answer is no. Once it is understood as a totality (and I have very little doubt that I understand FGO far better than almost everyone who actually 'plays' that garbage) the continuation of FGO's success does not produce 'dread' or 'horror' on any level of abstraction. What it produces is contempt, exhaustion, and disgust. Not fear.
