Touko and Araya's dynamic forms the core of a lot of Nasu I think.

Something something that interview line where he compares fantasy protagonists from the 80s vs the 90s
めい明そう窓じょう浄き机
Bright and clean, description of a study for calmly working.
Place fitted to reading and writing.
From the meaning, a bright window and a desk without dust.
For「机」sometimes「几」is used.

It's interesting to me that Tsukihime (at least Doujin, remake tbd but stands for now) doesn't really fit into this dichotomy. Roa is far too degraded to be an 80s protagonist.

No and so it weirded me out when the kids in her interlude called her that. Feels wrong.
I have been thinking a lot about Fate after the launch of Samurai Remnant, so I'd like to share some random thoughts:
1)FGO really muddled the distinction between class skills and personal skills, they should just be renamed to passive and active skills, as class is hardly a factor for who gets the former ones nowadays.
2)Too many servants are getting flying boat NPs. The concept of boat NPs is very cool because it's an advantage only in specific conditions, and seeing the ways servants and masters strategize to use certain abilities is always a cool thing Fate does. Everyone and their mom having a flying boat kills this strategy element, it becomes just pegasus 2.0. Drake makes sense due to it also representing her king of the wild hunt side, but for guys like Blackbeard and Zhou Yu it really shouldn't be a thing.
3)Still on Noble Phantasms, Fate has a fame for breaking estabilished rules, but I think no statement proved as false as the one that Servants having more than one NP is something rare. Pretty much every new Servant that came out in the last few years has more than one. Of the new Servants in Fate/Samurai Remnant, only one has a single NP (Assassin). Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Rogue Saber and Rogue Berserker all have two or more.
4) I'm not a fan of lovecraftian cosmic horror, these unfathomable cosmic gods stronger than any other gods only feel like bad overpowered OCs to me, but I really like what Nasu did with the Velber. They are a civilization, so there's conscious thoughts and motives behind them. Those thoughts are, however, unknown. They have a fascinating dichotomy, as they built both the Umbral Star, reaper of civilizations, and the Moon Cell, who simply records and never acts. Is this because the civilization itself is divided in two camps, antagonistic to each other? Is it part of a greater plan? They give off that sense of dread that comes with the unknown, but the mystery of their intentions also makes them engaging, they aren't just embodied destruction like how most lovecraftian gods are essentially pictured.
^ Didn’t more than half of Servants in F/SN have at least two Noble Phantasms, or am I tripping?

If I recall correctly, Artoria, Medusa, Herc and Gil have more than one, while EMIYA, Cú, Kojiro, Cursed Arm and Medea have one each. Also, in FSN proper Brserker Herc can't use Nine Lives, its only use is by Shirou during Heaven's Feel, so he essentialy only has God Hand. Berserker only became able to use it in Fate/Unlimited Codes and then FGO.
A double check shows that Medea is in a similar camp as Herk whereby she does have a second NP in the form of the Argon Coin but cannot utilize its potential and so it can only be used as a Skill.

Yeah the one NP thing was always a lie from the start.
Having only one is still the best though.
Was that the narrator who claimed that? Or was it a character who only has one NP and was being salty?![]()

I don't remember who said it exactly in FSN, but I think it was after Gil shows up and Saber is right there next to us.
In Zero it was Iskandar, who has two (also in relation to Gil).
Two, as in two NPs? Doesn't Iskandar have at least three? Bucephalus, Gordius' Wheel, Ionioi Hetairoi?
