Besides, the whole idea of moral busybodies creating a moral panic that forces TM to erase its eroge roots is kinda ridiculous, and it also ignores Nasu's changing views on the matter. He himself views all of that as something of an old shame, even if fanservice is still a-okay.

i strongly doubt Nasu is ashamed of their eroge roots. They rereleased the R18 version of Fate, and most of the writers he hangs out with and gets to write fate are eroge writers (sakurai, higashide, meteor, urobuchi). Nasu being ashamed of it is something pushed by either people who belittle the medium or doomposters who want them to go back but do it with a pessimistic, accusatory tone.

In the context of Muggles, I was literally referring to people unfamiliar with or unable to do magic. The type who freak out just because someone decides to conjure a few zombies to do Michael Jackson's Thriller in the streets. As for normies, "people who want to get rid of parts of a series that they consider messy so that it fits into generic, mainstream garbage" just sounds a bit too long, though. As for NPC, I've heard the reasoning for the term. I don't agree... Instead, I recall GBF's original story for kaiju is essentially overpopulation does not create soulless husks, rather than abominations (in-game term for kaiju) with negative souls.

Yes, it has nothing to do with a puritan casual newcomer fanbase demanding wholesome content. The actual reason is actually very simple: theyre a big fish in a pond that keeps getting more shallow by the year. Key, age, Leaf/Aquaplus, most of the real eroge giants did the jump to all-ages as well. Porn was never a central part of their works, theres no point in shoehorning in porn if it nerfs you by locking you to an audience that is dwindling in numbers.

Nitroplus being an outlier and sticking to their guns still making 18+ stuff is because theyre a weird company that prides itself on their weird, edgy shit and the 18+ rating lets them be as edgy as they want without console or TV anime restrictions (rumor has it theyve turned down multiple offers of a Soukou Akki Muramasa anime because they dont wanna budge on content). They're also financially very stable because Urobuchis non-eroge work and Sonico makes them money.

I believe we had this conversation when I was trying to decide how to play Dies Irae. People suggested that I play AA first then skip through AeF for the H-scenes. I insisted on playing AeF first and then unlocking and reading the side stories for AA afterwards. For both Fate and DI, I much prefer mana transfer through sexual fluids than blood.

Before AAM1232's distraction, we were talking about how moral busybodies wanting to ban "problematic elements" because they trigger the Muggles/normies ultimately ends badly for the original source, and any who acquiesce to them are deserving of the painful and messy consequences.

Tenco has made 2 games, Eiyuu senki in 2012 and Eiyuu senki GOLD in 2014. They attempted to go console with Eiyuu Senki but seems it didnt do too well since they didnt even attempt with GOLD. And GOLD just barely made it into top 50 eroge sales of the year on getchu. They're simply not big enough to do the jump to console, and sex is a core part of the games appeal anyway. People dont wanna play a Eiyuu Senki without sex scenes, which is not the case with Type-Moon games. Flashforward to 2021. Tenco hasnt made a proper game in 7 years and is running a shitty browser gacha game on DMM with reused assets from their old games. I think its safe to say they arent the golden solution you're trying to paint them as.

In the first place, the argument isnt that ero scenes are expensive. And even if it was, Type Moon is so rich with gambling blood money they could do whatever the fuck they ever want. But there is literally no point in Type-Moon locking themself to the eroge shelf and decreasing income and visibility, when they've never been passionate about their erotic content. *YOU* may think the sex scenes are important in Type-Moon, but its not what the creators nor the majority of EROGAMERS think (see: the rating of their ero scenes on erogamescape. Yes, the website lets you rate ero scenes).
