Oh yeah, true. I remember MatPat and crew making a video sensationalizing Sans's use of 俺. That's actually a good way to know how much something mattered in the Undertale community: did MatPat sensationalize it?

It was a scripted debate video between MatPat and the guy who wrote the "Elizabeth from P3 and Margareth from P4 are one and the same" theory for him. The debate was over Sans using オイラ as a personal pronoun. IIRC, the whole debacle was among the lines of "some Japanese gamers who were already familiar with Undertale reacted to Sans' personal pronoun with 'wtf he uses oira lmao I was expecting something different'".
Speaking of indie games getting Japanese releases, here's hoping that OMORI finally gets one soon.

Is the implication that these were the inspiration for Fantasy Trees, or? I guess I can sort of see it but I don't think the resemblance is that strong.

On the human agency thing,One could argue that humans who dont have magic in nasu have far less agency than those that do in universe.
(This thought came about when someone brought up that due to ignorance of said magic in setting and how you can fuck with free will subtly or overtly, most normal people in essence only have agency that is "given" to them)
Though this as for a different setting i feel the argument works the same here

Hypnosis or Compulsion isn't really an argument against free will in the Nasuverse, anymore than drugs altering your mental state is.
This discussion is inevitably going to get into the metaphysical concept of will, and by extension, existance, just watch.

A normal person can not take drugs, and as someone on mind altering meds i do take a tad offense as at best they just focus me mostly, they dont strip my literal free will

No, you need to have magic circuits for that. (Which it's possible someone uninitiated might potentially possess, but they still wouldn't know how to use them).
Either way, the existence of a new way to compel someone to do what you want (you know, on top of all the others like "do it or die", "do it or you won't be able to feed your family", "do it and I'll give you a tasty sweet") does not diminish free will in the slightest. The person doing the compelling is still exercising their free will to compel someone else.
