I wouldn't call it nitpicking because I think Last Encore could have benefitted a lot from a secondary plotline that continued through the floors, and that's what it seemed like Amari was bringing to the table, at least at first.

If i have to consider a fucking blog or book for a anime, then the anime failed and also begs the question of why not include that shit in the anime itself (inb4, muh script/they adapted it wrong, thats fucking irrelevant to the evaluation of the product in this context). And that isnt even including that some of us cant read japanese so we only have last encore by itself.

I dont wanna read a fucking blog to understand plotpoints, that's a failure of the show and not the audience. Lets take off the protection of last encore and note some actual issue's, there is a fucking character that dissappears with no explanation like the pink haired chick that is only resolved in a fucking audio drama, fights that require nasu to explain parts of in his blog, skipped floors and so on.

I liked extra for character stuff, not the gameplay. I just emulated it and always suggest emulating it using cheats. However its not wrong to say or observer that is when nasu went into the some iffy directions, of course whether that was due to extra or more just coincided with it is hard to say

The arguments being thrown around are superb and I commend you, but I'd like to point out that those arguments are eyesores.

Last Encore feels like extraordinary lost potential, considering the zaniness of the studio and the route of potential mindfuckery Nasu went down with the Deadface concept. They got to explore it a bit with Alice's floor, but that honestly should have been the theme of the story until !Hakuno solidified who he is. I'd definitely echo Amari feeling like she was supposed to be important, only to be tossed aside and never brought up again. The final product isn't horrible, but sadly mediocre.

That should tell you how much impact it had.

Personal takeaways from LE would be:

-Chakravartin looming at the sky, visible from every floor. Really evokes Ars Almadel Salomonis back then.

-Dead Faces emergence and how Julius and Twice were among them.

-Demi-Servants can be achieved easier in SE.RA.PH.

-Most notable would be how Alice's floor was animated, as one could expect from studio behind Puella Magica.

-OST

Main takeaways are that LE is the most atmospheric work TM has done since Hollow Ataraxia and that's impressive. Despite its flaws it's the best thing to come out of Extra to date and probably forever if they keep doing Extella stuff.*

It's also the second best fate anime, only behind Emiya Gohan because that one is both extraodinarily fulfilling and extremely easy to adapt.

It's also kinda bad, but that's redeemed by being better and more interesting than anything resembling a straight EXTRA adaptation could ever be.

One Thing that legit surprised from lost encore is that absolute over the top nihilistic villain. I wonder if that's how nasu sees nihilism or just one of the things he doesn't agree with.
