I just noticed. Doesn't Arc's Ascension 3 actually proves Arc can make what-if dreams their own realities? Ascension 3 describes herself as a reconfiguration she herself made and she actually has her own backstory, meaning an entire reality that she created for her to exist in.
Red Arcueid's ending in Type Lumina also plays around with this concept, playing around with the idea that the "dream" Arc was narrating to Shiki might just be reality.
Truly, Arc seems to be Azathoth now.

I think you're looking too much into Nasu just showing us a temporary possibility of what could have happened. He kind of uses Tatari in the same way at times so I wouldn't really expect it to be something to power wank. Though if she can summon the moon from 1000 years in the future then why not temporarily manifest alt possibilities.

he is not connected to a specific deity, he read some diluted lovecraftian knowledge and can summon some eldritch mobs

Huh, I had interpreted that question completely wrong it seems. I thought Reign was asking if Nasu and Co had come up with the idea for the Foreigner Class back at the start, would they as writers have changed Gilles' characterization and Skill-Set to make him into a Foreigner Servant in line with the canonical ones we have today.

I think the "does this guy qualify" question depends on "is it in FGO or not?" because if yes, the answer will always be "they do".

With all due respect to Urobuchi, Lovecraft Gilles was a mistake

Gilles doing just Discount Lovecraft with his magic is part of Urobuchi, in my personal opinion, just not making much interesting magecraft in FZ. Outside Volumen Hydragyrum, Iris' wires, and Innate Time Control, the characters tend to just be the exact same stuff used by their kids in FSN (even the Origin Bullets is basically Shirou's father using his Origin, but for guns now).

As for the others, credit where it's due, at least ITC is both cool and given an actual reasoning why a magus would come up with it. Iris' wires don't get much showing on account of Kirei Interrupt. VH is not bad at all, making an important substance in alchemy into a cool weapon.

I don't know, Volumen and Accel are both cooler than anything Rin or Medea used.
The only cool mage craftstuff in FSN is Shirou and maybe Sakura.

Rin's setup in Adventures is pretty cool, albeit in a nerdy way.

Using projection to make the gems she need is a nice touch and I'm surprised nobody thought of it before

I like Cthulhu Gilles because it meshes well with Uryuu. If they were just a pair of stabby men it would feel bland. Gilles using the murders to build up to something gives his Master a purpose to build towards, something more than the instant gratification he had been getting.

They could have just used plain old demon summoning instead, but I don't know if demons are even a thing in Fate? Or at least western demons. We've got the Demon Pillars which are just Solomon's NP running wild. I think I remember something about TA's succumbing to bloodlust being called Demon Lords.

They totally are. I mean, Demons and Daemons are whole classes of entities and are even trash mobs in FGO. And Medea Lily proves that you can just straight up summon and barter with Solomon's Pillars like the Lemegeton says. Then there's DDD, which is weird but exists. Mephistopheles is also a homunculus whose Innocent Monster explicitly makes him closer to the demon of the same name, who is a separate entity. Maxwell's Demon is also, boringly enough, literally an actual demon... for as canonical as that is.
